What’s the best thing you’ve ever found in the Aldi middle aisle?

The Aldi middle aisle is something every true Brit should know and love.
Tell me of your treasure finds…

Not in the UK mind but a Raclette set and a Radio controlled clock.
AvailableSubstance53@reddit
If I had a Raclette set I would weigh 300 kg and it would be WORTH IT
Apprehensive_Bus_543@reddit
I got a weather station which included a radio controlled clock, it lasted about 15 years.

It was Lidl, but one time they sold Chromebooks when I needed a nice cheap laptop
Massive_Promise_8242@reddit
No fuckin way lidl just had a load of chromebooks tossed in their metal cages hahahah I can't believe this one
Bulldozer7133@reddit
Aldi currently has portable monitors by Bauhn for £79
crucible@reddit
The Aldi in the ten I work in must have had a pallet load of Medion netbooks in when it first opened, lol.
I was tempted but it took years for the Wi-Fi chipset to gain Linux support.
drakaiser@reddit
Was in a secured cabinet if it was the same as my local Aldi, think it was medion. It had a few other tech pieces in there for a very short while too.
Haven't seen them again since, though.
Pink-socks@reddit
I remember seeing a locked glass cabinet with some electrics in once. It had go pros etc in. Like you, never seen electronics in there since
Rexel450@reddit
1000 mixed size rawlplugs for £5
thegasman2000@reddit
A wood burner fan. Really helps when you get the stove proper hot
Sea-Still5427@reddit
Me too! Just done its 4th winter with no problems.
More recently, a Kärcher window vac. Condensation and window-cleaning drips, begone!
So cross I missed out on their plastic garden waste tubs this year. Flew off the shelf here.
Ok-Fox1262@reddit
Sorry, the other one.
I used to ride a bike and had SPD pedals and shoes, the trainer style ones you can actually walk in.
The pair I had were like £100. Lidl had them in for £9.95. so I bought all three pairs in my size.

A white wooden ottoman/window seat, was reduced to about £15. Its moved house with me about 4 times and has now been repurposed as a planter at the end of our garden housing a lavender bush. Often gets compliments!
Also a stylish copper colored metal table lamp thats been used every day for going on 10 years- still with original bulb.
allcretansareliars@reddit
Arc welder. Stood in front of it for bloody ages thinking "Why would I need an arc welder", then it hit me. If I bought it, then I could continue with my day, rather than stand there trying to make up reasons why I needed an arc welder.

A combination brush, ice scraper and squeegee. The importer is based in Austria, so I call it the Austrian yeti basher.
These days, now I have a bit of spare cash, it all seems a bit meh. The middle aisle was far more wondrous when I was skint...
AgingLolita@reddit
Dark brown faux leather ottoman boxes that have a sitting weight limit of 110kg.
You know what that is? Spare chare, coffee table, footstool and storage all in one AND they matchy sofa, and they were £16.99 each
txe4@reddit
Their neoprene wellies come in a couple of times a year at half the price of most places, they are just as good. Their crocs are decent too. If you've got kids it's worth stocking up on the next ones they'll need when those comes in to stock.
Good quality dumbbell sets - iron weights, nice bars.
Lidl: the discounted Emma mattresses are great, strong recommend if you need one. Own-brand USB-C hub is in my travel go-to, far smaller/lighter than most. Heated car seat covers - life-changing in winter in an EV that doesn't have heated seats. Pillows/duvets/sheets.
People speak highly of the power tools and I think they have been good about retaining the same battery type/connector across the family for a long time.

My kamado. Got it for £300. Had it 18 months then it cracked. They collected it and gave me a full refund as it had a 3 year warranty. Loved it so I upgraded to a kamado Joe using the money which has a lifetime warranty. Was a winner
The_Kwyjibo@reddit
I've got the kamado, as well. After about 6 months i got an email from them saying i was being refunded. I got the money back a week later. I've no idea why.
Gonna be smoking some meats this weekend.

I still have the little portable Sony speaker I got 7 years ago. It’s good quality and working as new all these years later. While my friends were paying hundreds for their JBL speakers I got this one for something like a tenner (I can’t remember precisely, but I do recall gushing to my aunt about how cheap it was—basically a steal).
I also got a decent ski suit for next to nothing. Kept me warm, did the trick, didn’t break the bank – I was a poor student at the time – and even wore the jacket to school on really cold days.

That morning I'd been saying to my wife how I needed to get a long handled wire brush for scraping moss and weeds out of paving slabs and brick work.
Went to Aldi shortly after and they had them on special buy.

My folding sink is a bit like this one:
https://www.lomo.co.uk/products/square-folding-basin/
And it was about £5, i bought it ages ago, i must've had it for at least 8 years, i take it to music festivals and wash myself in it. It's ideal for packing away into a bag as it's quite flexible unlike some camping sinks.
It still holds water and shows no signs of wear, tear or degradation due to its age such as cracking where it's folded.

American here, but we have Aldi (with the fun middle aisle) here as well. I got a knockoff Le Creuset dutch oven thing that I adore. I've used it endlessly over the past few years, and it only cost $20, compared to like $400 for the name brand.
Better_Ad_8307@reddit
I got one too, as well as the covered casserole knockoff too.
smellmycheese1@reddit
the frying pans that pop up now and again are excellent quality. Way better than overpriced shit from Tefal etc
Rob_Sketchy@reddit
42 inch Television.
ExArdEllyOh@reddit
Lidl not Aldi - an inverter welder. I got it because I wanted to weld something up a ladder and my conventional transformer was too cumbersome now it's my go-to machine.
TopAngle7630@reddit
Furry seat covers. They are just small circles of fake fur which you presumably put on chairs. They were a couple of quid each, so I bought a couple because my cat loves a rug and they were just the right size. I went back the next day and bought them all as they were a big hit.
lordskunkontoast@reddit
Found about 3 grams of what appeared to be some reasonable quality stardawg that some hapless chainsaw browser had dropped out their pocket. Good lucky find.

I'm not gonna Google any of this because I'm enjoying being confused.
Massive_Promise_8242@reddit
I know I haven't had that much to drink tonight but I'm doubting it after that.
WittyNomDePlume@reddit
I'm sure I saw a kayak once, but maybe I dreamed it?
squashedtits1@reddit (OP)
I mean this is what I’m talking about. The shit they sell in that aisle is insane
LilacRose32@reddit
We got great Lego/duplo sets for gifts. Very much aimed at actual children so just what we needed
stantheman1968@reddit
A four man teepee tent. It scanned at £7.00 had loads of camping holidays out of it. It's still in good condition after 6 years.
squashedtits1@reddit (OP)
The camping shit I’ve got from there over the years has been ridoculous
One_Idea_239@reddit
Adjustable temperature kettle. Was about 30 quid and works really well for different teas, coffee and making hot squash drinks for kids
LongjumpingCurve1869@reddit
Ribbed cock cover
two-girls-one-tank@reddit
Got a rainbow semi transparent raincoat that is perfect for wearing at music festivals, I always get compliments.
It was actually for kids so super cheap. I am quite a petite woman so the age 12 fit me just fine!
OrdoRidiculous@reddit
A Ryobi box set. I only went in for a few slices of ham and now I've had to buy and build a shed so I had something to use my tools on. Aldi don't even sell sheds, I'm not sure what the marketing strategy was here but I've definitely been played.
_summerw1ne@reddit
My yellow Duck hot water bottle cover. My littlest best friend & is my equivalent of a childhood teddy or comfort blanket or whatever. He’s 19 years old now and has lived with me in every single house av lived in, used to come with me to sleepovers, kept me warm when av been unwell. The best money ever spent in Aldi for me. Even now he lives on my couch 🐥
squashedtits1@reddit (OP)
That’s actually a solid find. My GF is never in the house without a hot water bottle glued to her and I see how important they can be to someone so can imagine the attachment you have.
Even if I think it’s fucking mad how people love hot water bottles so much 😂
Lonk-the-Sane@reddit
(wood) Router and table for £30. Both surprisingly decent quality.
