ULPT Request: Canceling Membership Contract
Posted by Shot_Jaguar_2343@reddit | UnethicalLifeProTips | View on Reddit | 11 comments
I accidentally signed up for a year long membership with urban air not realizing it’s a 1 year contract of continuous monthly payments. No way to cancel for the next 11 months, so I’m wondering the best way to get out of paying. Would canceling my debit card work, or would I need to close my bank account? Not really tryna pay $30 to Urban air each month or the next year, so any advice appreciated 🙏🙏

Anything else happen? Anything in the mail? I mean it didn’t ask for ss or account ach but I’m assuming i can try and go a whole month for free with only paying the membership and changing my card that’s the only reason I’m on Reddit rn lol

I’m wondering the same thing. I’m not paying $70 for the next 10 months

Do they just have your debit card info or did you give them your full bank account number for ACH withdraws?
New Debit card should do the trick.
If not, just piss disc the entire place or do something to get your membership revoked.

Would this not keep a recurring charge on my account and cause over draft fees or something? Would anything else be impacted or would urban air just not care

Where do you live and how long ago did you sign up? I think some states like California have a law that states if you start a subscription, the business has to give you a small window (like 3 business days or something)where if you send in a request to cancel, they have to cancel and refund your money.

Stop payment. Contact your bank to set it up if you did ACH.
If by card, replace the card.

If it’s on a credit card you could issue a charge back, it is definitely an unethical life tip tho lol.
