Chepstow/Lydney - Where is best to stay?

Forgive me if this is the wrong community (please direct me to a more suitable one if that's the case). I am due to attend a concert at Chepstow Castle in August. This is a new area to me. Can anyone tell me what the drive from Chepstow up to Lydney is like, up the A48? Is it about 15 minutes? I am trying to decide if it's easier to get a hotel in North Bristol or up in Lydney (currently my *only* options). Can anyone give me some advice? I am disabled and looking for the most direct/quickest place I can drive to after the concert. TIA

I live near Lydney. I would definitely stay this side of the bridge. It's seems to be closed more often that it's open at the moment either because of high winds or works. It's a big detour to take the other bridge and adds at least 20 mins. From Lydney to Chepstow is about 15. Look for places in St braviels, tidenham, woolaston too. All an easy drive to the castle.

It is an easy drive to Bristol at night and lots of hotel options at the top end by the M4/M5 too. Only issue is if the M48 bridge is closed then it is a big detour. Both directions would be fine though other than the actual event traffic. Chepstow is a quiet town.

Have lived in both towns, lydney is an easy drive if you have transport- it's about 15 mins as you say. Nothing going on there, it's tired and shabby. Bristol isn't that easy to get to by public transport even tho its not that far away but there is a travel lodge at Aust services on the Severn Bridge. That's only 5 minute drive from cheppy. Lydney doesn't have many b and b but there's 1 on the edge of town by the police station and 1 in Aylburton, close to Lydney. Dm me if need more info.

Thanks for this. Not bothered about Lydney itself, just trying to work out if it's gonna be easier to head straight up there after the gig or fiddle about going back over the Severn Bridge. I haven't been out that way in years but have always had to queue onto the bridge.
