In Scotland and Wales it is a criminal offence to smack or strike a child, but it's allowed in England and NI. Do you think parents in England should have the right to assault a child with a wooden spoon?

I don’t agree with beating your kid as a main form of punishment, many better ways to deal with it than hitting them as a sole punishment. I never got beat as punishment consistently but my dad has struck me a couple times as a teenager (I fully deserved it) and to be honest I don’t see no wrong in it, it actually taught me I can’t just expect to run my mouth, be aggressive or act a fool in real life and not have consequences for it, I kind of look back at it now and see I thought I was untouchable and it really brought me back down to earth, if I’d have done the same with a stranger they’d have beaten the shit out of me for acting how I did at times, so it was more of a lesson than a punishment which I didn’t see at the time. There’s many kids that lack respect, think they can do what they want, talk to people however they want, bully people etc but the day they find their equal or actually get punched in the face for their actions, they begin to think twice about it. It reminds me of a kid in school when I was around 14-15, he was a major bully, his parents let him get away with anything and everyone was scared of him and his cronies, a new kid came to school and he was bullying him and eventually the new kid had enough and beat the absolute shit out of him, what he didn’t realise is the kid was a national kickboxing champ but didn’t want to fight. The bully changed a lot after that day and became pretty much a model student bar a few moments, but the bullying pretty much stopped, all it took was a humbling lesson that he wasn’t all that tough 🤷‍♂️
