Would you take your young children to McDonald’s at 11.30pm?

On the way home last night we went to Macdonalds. About 11.30 a family of four came in, kids about 10/11 ish years old. Sat down and had a meal. On the way out we saw another family rocking up with similar aged child. I am old and life was different when my children were young. They would be up late at weekends (not midnight late) and I would no more have taken them out at that time of night than fly to the moon. I also wouldn’t be feeding them junk food at that time of night even if they were still up (which they weren’t)

It's the end of the Easter hols so if families are traveling back from holiday then they may be out later than usual with their kids, and when you've got hungry kids then you're going to go for something you know they'll eat. We flew back from our last holiday and by the time we got out it was past 10pm. We still had a good 2.5hr drive home but the kids were starving so we drove to the nearest town and had a McDonalds at about 10:45pm before getting on the road for the drive home so that the kids were fed and there was more chance of them falling asleep in the car home and sleeping the whole way back. Additionally if I have taken my kids out for the day, if it's to a show or event then it will often be a late one and we always get a McDonalds for the road on the way home.

Yes. If I just got off a six hour flight at 10, and drove two hours home, I would absolutely take my family to maccas at midnight. That's what it's built for really.

I did just this after landing after a delayed flight at 3.30am- absolutely knackard and starving it seemed like a good option. Seems a strange thing to judge people on. On this occasion I also caught the attention of the police who assumed I was smoking drugs in my BMW I think, but no, we were just munching a maccy Ds after the longest day ever.

The only time that we give our kids McDs is if we are travelling home somewhere late and they haven't eaten. So we're more likely to be feeding them this in the dead of night, than a "normal" time. Fish fingers, a few chips, carrot sticks and apple slices with a Fruit Shoot. Not the healthiest meal but not the worst either.

Sometimes shit happens, and you have to get some food on the way home after being out somewhere late. So you go somewhere that's on your way, still open, and quick and easy.
