Work no longer allowing BYOD - VM on BYOD or slow corporate device?

Hello everyone. So HQ has announced that we can no longer use BYOD, even if strict CA policies are in place. I have no objection to be honest as it will make everything more secure, my only complaint is that my personal PC has a reasonably high specification and they offering us slow slim factor PCs which are not the best. I was thinking i could either create a virtual machine on my personal device and enroll it on intune as a corporate owned device, but i wasn't sure if i would need to purchase a seperate key to license the VM? Alternatively i was thinking of maybe dual booting my computer, one OS for personal and the other for work, but i'm honestly not sure if that would work. Would a remote wipe for example only wipe the secondary OS, and would my private OS still be private? Has anyone here come up against a similar scenario, and if so, what did you do?

OK, might seem silly, but my PC will open everything pretty much instantly, and i generally have a LOT of applications open at the same time. Like i say, i very rarely game anymore, and i don't do anything on my PC that i wouldn't on my work laptop. I'm even considering just wiping my PC and giving the company full control of it, i've already got out RMM installed. I just wanted to know if the scenario i was asking for was OK, almost like a VDI environment, but hosted on a BYOD?

What comparison testing have you done ? List of apps you need open ? (Vs “nice to have” open) Load times ? App focus latency ? Screen realestate ? Would you be more focussed on tasks at hand if you had less apps open / less distractions? Do you have apps that can also run ij a browser and can the browser suspend inactive tabs properly? What are the specs of your byod ? Vs the corp supplied device ? Being devil’s advocate here mostly. IMO tech devices should be well spec’d. But usually my techs choose lesser spec devices due due to weight… as they are going to and from user desks a lot or in and out of tech rooms etc (eg x1 carbon over an x1 extreme, or an MBA over an MBP). Myself i have 4 browsers (edge, chrome, FF, waterfox) and between 10-20 tabs each (and often 1 browser in a priv window too) plus outlook and excel plus 2-3 RDP sessions plus drawio (a memory hog) and often indesign (bugger memory hog) plus few terminals (terminal sessions on top of this are a rounding error)

You haven't really answered the question, how will a slim form factor PC affect your productivity? Have you even tried or worked on one of the PC's your company is going to give you? What are your personal PC specs? What are the specs of the PC the company is going to give you? What do you do? What work do you do?

You take your personal PC to work or are you referring to a personal laptop? Depending on what you need to use the computer for there is nothing wrong with NUC's or slim factor workstations - depending on how much the company is paying for them they can be very high specced - possibly even higher that your personal PC (unless it is a gaming pc I can't really figure out if you're in IT or not, it doesn't really matter I suppose since you should stop thinking about how to circumvent your company's new policy and just accept your new reality.

My PC is a gaming desktop, the SFF i'm being told by a colleague is a second hand entry level unit, i've not been given the exact specification though. I just love how fast my own computer is, i have loads of applications open at the same time over 4 screens, and one of the reasons they were OK with me working from home was because of how much more productive i am using it. I just wanted to know if the scenario i was asking for was OK, almost like a VDI environment, but hosted on my own hardware?

So maybe me just being stupid, but i'm generally unsure hence me asking the question on here, but running a VM, enrolling it in Intune and giving the company complete control, is that not technically me not using a BYOD?
