Best cities with friendly vibes and good dating scene?

I'm wrapping up uni soon and looking to leave my European hometown. The most important things for me are finding a place where I can easily integrate into the society, with plenty of social opportunities and a decent dating scene. I've traveled quite a bit during my student years, but I know that's different from actually living somewhere. For example, I've always gotten along well with German solo travelers, but I've heard Germany can be a bit of a cold society to settle into. I've also read that even big cities like London and Barcelona can be surprisingly lonely for expats, which wasn't what I expected. NYC always seems to be one of the top recommendations for its social and dating scene (for guys). Are there other cities like that, where you've found it easy to connect with people and feel like you belong?

It's very small, but country is very diverse and adaptable. So making friends is something people do for life, regardless of how long you stay it doesn't matter. Even if you're just there for 6 months, people will still be friends with you, I felt the same about german travelers and people you meet in germany. Totally different.

Avoid Singapore at all cost. Especially if you are young and want to have fun. It is expensive and surprisingly closed minded. As an expat, you will be tolerated as long as you behave as expected, never fully integrated.

I was one of them ;) And thank God you have that little breathe of fresh air. Otherwise ... anyway there is a reason why everyone is leaving Singapore. Just look at what Club Street used to be and what it is now.

Idk about that, because literally every european I know is still there and has applied PR 3 times. They're not there for club street.

If you're young and want to have fun, why would you need PR? What's your idea of fun and where do you think is fun? And PR != babies or family.

You get PR because you want to stay long term, and you stay long term not just because it’s “fun” nor for club street. You have a unilateral way of seeing things. None of the people I know applying PR is even married.

Any midsize to big Spanish or Italian city. You'll immediately have social options in the local foreigner scene and can also make friends with local people once you've gotten to know the place / learn the language.

In my experience pretty similar to almost everywhere in Europe - either foreigners dating other foreigners in the international circles or foreigners who have left that bubble to have local partners and friends. Italy (and Italians) expect a higher level of integration from "stranieri" than other countries with a really strong emphasis on language and cultural conformity. I guess this is somewhat reflected in dating.

I wasn’t honestly thinking about that, it’s true that there is expectancy of foreigners to integrate but even for natives dating seems hard, especially if you are a dude, it’s not rare to hear from people abroad how girls are more open and willing to make a first move, here things have remained pretty old fashioned

In the end the difference is so marginal that you are going to have 10 people saying good things about city X, 12 people saying negative about the same city. And when you move there you can end up being one of those 10 people or one of those 12. I sent a year in the same city as 20 years old and a year as 23 years old. I had great time one time because I happened to found group of friends. The other time such accidental event didn’t happen.
