Anyone else ignored?

I don't think it's generational. It's just a thing that happens in families, particularly with the youngest in the family. There's a very real psychological conditioning that comes with perceiving one member of the family as "the baby" who they once patted on the head and shoved out the door to play. Once they see you that way, they rarely ever stop. Doesn't matter how old or how accomplished you are as an adult. Once that perception of you gets imprinted, they're always going to fall back into thinking that way about you. For me and my older sister, her approach to dealing with me throughout childhood was to ignore me. She does the same now, many years later. The rest of the family is similarly inclined, especially when we're all together. I can literally watch them regress into it. You can snap them out of it by confronting them and forcing them out of regression, but it will only piss them off. I've done it before. They'll just get mad at you for spoiling the mood or trying to draw all the attention to you. Like so many other nostalgic triggers, they want to slide back into those old routines. It's comforting for them, even if it means you are negated.
