If it's up for 6.5 and not worth 6.5 don't buy from that dealer.

I don't get negotiating. You don't do it in Tesco on your weekly shop and the amount you pay can fluctuate. If you have 6.5k to spend go and find one for that or less that your happy with. Simple

I bought a used car for £6,500 from a dealership. I asked if he’s take £6,250 and we’d have a deal. He straight up said ‘no, it’s £6,500’ to which I replied, ‘ok’. My missus likes the remind me of my appalling haggling skills. So to answer your question, you can certainly try.

Not really; the days when you could negotiate a good deal more-or-less ended with the supply chain issues.

I recently bought a used car from a dealer and it didn’t even occur to me to haggle, it seemed a fair price compared to similar cars on the market and I was paying for about 75% of it from insurance claim money and the rest from savings. I’ve since been berated by everyone I know from my boss to my dad for not even trying to get some invoked off, so I’d say it probably is/can be done. I’ll know next time!

We looked at a new motorbike for £22 or just over. We were offered 500 quid discount. So went and bought the same bike secondhand. Thing is if he has knocked a bit more off we would have probably bought the new one paid a big deposit and had the rest on finance. The same place is now offering lots of extras for the same model of bike which would defo Italy amounts more than 590 quid. Hey ho

Take a shopping bag full of cash and ask if he'll take less for cash.

It makes no difference. They prefer to sell a car on finance as they make more out of it than a cash sale.

Probably nothing. It’s a sellers market at the moment.

I was looking for a car, different economic climate some years ago, I had 2k and not a penny more. At the 8/9th dealership of the day and seeing nothing for 2k. I walked up to the sales rep and said. I’ve got 2k, have you got anything that you’ll do to 2k. And that’s how I got my Ford fiesta for 1500 less than the sticker.

Unlikely to get anything knocked off the car price, but watch out for the Sales Fee or Processing fee. Usually 100quid or so. Just refuse to pay it. It doesn't affect the salespersons commission so theyll only offer token resistance . I just said "sorry I don't pay those fees" and she went and did the 'speak to the .manager' trick and okd it.

I haggle with the Tesco staff reducing produce at the ending of the day. I've told the chap if he knocked a zero off I'd buy all 10 packs of smoked salmon. That's how I ended up paying 27p each for 10 packs of smoked salmon.

A dealership, like any shop, is staffed by employees who do not own the thing they're selling, and have no power to negotiate. Unless you're talking with the owner of the product, you're not gonna get any sort of deal. The staff can only sell it for what they've been told to sell it for.

You can try, but it's unlikely you'll get far. It's a seller's market. Used cars are flying. They don't need to knock anything off especially on a relatively low amount sale already. Cash is actually less desirable now, it's not like the old days when they'd knock money off for cash. They make more money selling you a finance deal. Cash is just an annoyance that needs to be paid into a bank which costs them time. I recently bought a van for 21k and all I got after haggling was a "complimentary" valet. Which was awful and I redid it properly as soon as I got home.

You can try and negotiate the price on anything however there is no obligation on the sellers part to change the price.

Yes you can, you ask for a lower price, and hope the seller accepts. I would expect to save very little, it's currently a seller's market given how inflated car prices have been the last few years.
