Is there a database anywhere used by the house rental industry or tenant deposit holders of who currently rents a privately rented property in the UK?

Yes, the government will happily let you look up who lives at what address. Can't see any problems at all with such a system.

No, that would be a massive privacy violation. Imagine if a violent ex could just search a database to find your current address.

Thankyou. Just a valiant attempt at finding the names of FaceBook Marketplace scammer redelivery mules, as Police and Landlords never follow up when reported. I have one scammer using at least 8 addresses all over the UK (Wolverhampton, Sidcup, Manchester, several in South East London and Taunton); all privately rented residential addresses once registered to now defunct company directors. Fairly sure they are operating out of a flat above a hairdressers in Birmingham and using a Mailboxes Etc office as the correspondence hub. But duly reported to ActionFraud (should be called CountFraud). Will need to park it there. Thankyou!

Nope, it's not centralised. Closest is the deposit protection scheme. And even then, they won't tell you as its against GDPR.
