Does nobody like looking out the windows anymore?

I’m an aisle guy so I got no say over the window shades, but I can’t tell you the number of flights I’ve been on where someone sits down and leaves the shade down. When did the view become something people don’t want?

Shades UP, for me! We live on a beautiful planet. Seeing it from above is priceless!

I flew 4 Delta flights today & have never seen anything like it. Only 2 shades up on a huge plane on one of the prettiest days we’ve had in months. None up on a night flight. I was in a middle seat & asked the window guy if he’d open it so I could see take off. He did, which I appreciated. He closed it right back, which is his right since he had the window seat. It was the “vibe” that felt so weird. Like the whole plane was now on the same page that it’s not “in” to have the shades up during the day or at night but I didn’t see the Tik Tok with the message??? lol. I felt like I was in the twilight zone. I’ve been flying back and forth Tn or Ga to Tx for 30 years until 1.5 years ago. What changed in the last 1.5 years? People had cell phones in 2022 & they still looked out the windows??? My guess: now there’s free WiFi & tv screens with movies & TV shows in the seat in front of you which is way more entertaining than a phone with no internet like back in 2022 when we still had to pay for WiFi & it barely worked.
