Because people were hating on my welds

I practiced before doing it idk if it was a bad pic but this seems like a solid weld job for a first timer. I fucked up on the mag well I do admit
CigaretteTrees@reddit
Where did you get the weld kit, I’ve been wanting to do one of these for years.
ExpertPeak7533@reddit
Side plates from 2a3dpriall other lower parts from velocity firearms

Same question, thanks!
Redreddington0928@reddit
2a3dprint has them. Tell him 2a3d_savage sent you
Lambowelds@reddit
I have one just like it. I silver brazed the thing together. So far so good after 2500 rounds.i did tig wrap the corners.
eblyle@reddit
Think rat rod. Mine looks worst than that, and it's been working fine for several years.
Obito_Sensei@reddit
Just remember you either need to be decent with a welder or a grinder. You have options.
ExpertPeak7533@reddit
Grinder and paint makes you the welder you ain't. It's not horrible, but the plates are on the wrong sides. I'm curious about how that will effect ejection of rounds.
Dmitri_ravenoff@reddit
Ain't horrible but is sure ain't good.
Confident_Ice_5690@reddit (OP)
Very true, I know I got to excited and didn’t pay attention to where I put them, I was gonna try and modify it to work better but I’m just gonna sell the upper and buy a whole new kit
Redreddington0928@reddit
You can save it bro.
ExpertPeak7533@reddit
It is 100% salvageable. You can take the right side in front of the ejection port down with a mill machine if you have access to one. If you don't you can use an angle rider or Drexel. The later option won't look as pretty though
Confident_Ice_5690@reddit (OP)
Yeah I just want it to be as clean as possible it kind of embarrassing plus the safety selector is on the wrong side so it just spins kinda freely because it’s not able to interface with the spring
Roland_was_a_warrior@reddit
If you’re gonna try it at home, I’d suggest you learn to draw file and do it that way.
ExpertPeak7533@reddit
Didn't think about the selector. Rip. You live and you learn man.
GunnitRust@reddit
Why sell the upper?
Confident_Ice_5690@reddit (OP)
Well it would be illegal to sell it as a whole but it’s a cobray upper and I could just buy a whole new vmac upper and weld kit so I know I wont run into any compatibility issues
GunnitRust@reddit
GAFS probably.
There are a lot of 3D printed lowers for these if you can’t get the welded lower to work. Sheet metal is pretty easy to work with so if you are going to get a whole new kit you can probably get this one running also.
Confident_Ice_5690@reddit (OP)
True, two is better than one. I was running a printed lower but I don’t like the idea of it as much
ShizzySho@reddit
If its your first time you did pretty good. Id just fill and grind away to make it look clean.
Clam_slapper69420@reddit
I am a welder by profession...I wouldn't trust those even as tacks
gooniboi@reddit
Fuck em we did ours with a stick welder and 6010 rod and it looks horrible. If it works they’re just jelly.
Ok-Refrigerator6858@reddit
JB weld Professional epoxy, mix the two tubes together then let it cure in a cool, non-damp area and leave undisturbed for 36 hours. 5500lbs holding force. if you take a brush and applicator (popsicle stick) you can fill the gaps in your joints and the handle gap. For a partial or bad weld on your seam, it can cause structural failure, though it is good to be safe with these things.
Content-Range-9419@reddit
If it works it works most of us are not professional welders
RandoAtReddit@reddit
I'm barely an amateur welder.
L1FT_K1T@reddit
What’s your plan for the grip?
Minimum_Government@reddit
Those are some pretty poor welds. Get some scrap metal and practice more before the next kit.
Hennelly@reddit
Is it kosher here to ask where you bought the kit?
