What's the law on smoking in bus stops?

I normally don't care that people around me smoke but I frequently use busses and with all the bad weather lately I'm finding more and more people smoking in sheltered bus stops and it's not pleasant having the majority of people waiting smoking.

What about vaping? I stand just inside the 3 wall bus stop and blow my smoke out along the wind going away from the bus stop. I been doing this for about 6 months during bad weather as it's part of my commute but I just had some old man tell me I will get a £100 fine for doing that. But there are no signs and no one has ever said anything to me before. Plus I've seen plenty of other people do it. Was this just a grumpy old man?

Depends on the bus stop, some of them are illegal to smoke in but it never gets enforced. People who smoke at bus stops are utter cunts, regardless of the legality of it though.

They shouldn't, but you are unlikely to get it enforced. Sadly smokers can be unthinking and their craving takes precedence over the comfort of everyone else.

I'm a smoker and I do my best not to make other people suffer with my habit. The only way I'd light up in a bus shelter is if I was the only one there and if someone else came along I'd move. We're not all nicotine craving arseholes.

Yeah great, leaving a stinking bus shelter behind. Yes, we can smell it. And yes, the person you sit next to on the bus will get a couple of lungs full of foul smoker stench.
