VDI choices now?!

The wyse portal does make it look like thinOS can support AVD. AVD doesn't have instant clones, but it does have ephemeral. There's a 3rd party tool called Nerdio that we use to manage AVD and they have a cool setting in their auto-scale settings that basically says rebuilt the host at user log off. I do love me some FSlogix though. Persistent transferable user profiles resolve so much user complaining. The problem for AVD is cost. It's OPEX spend to Azure, versus the Capex for your own hardware in the data center. Those multi-user hosts save a ton. We can get up to 15 concurrent sessions in win10 multi-user, and server 2019 with rds licensing we've packed up to 25 concurrent sessions before. We briefly considered RDS with a devolutions front end, but my leadership liked the idea of Azure spend versus capex. I'm also not sure if the wyse terminals support devolutions. Maybe RDS paired with an automation tool like terraform can get you something like ephemeral/instant clone. Scheduled task at log off kicks a terraform script that destroys and rebuilds the VM, maybe via github actions or devops? I donno. Eventually someone will step into the space the exit of VMware has made and we'll have some good options that are less complicated. This is the problem with consolidation, if someone exists there's not many options.
