Book Review: Our War by Craig DiLouie

Just finished reading it the other day, and I will say it was a compelling read.
It gave good insight, albeit in a fictional setting, of a Modern Civil War in the US.
Real emotional at times, had to put it down a few times to stop myself from getting emotionally overwhelmed.
The human suffering, the recurring theme of "brother against brother", and when idealism gets slapped in the face by the realities of war, it is a good book that I would recommend in prepping circles.
I won't give any spoilers, though it does help to at least try to put one's politics to the side and try to read the book from a humanist/love thy neighbor perspective.
If the mods allow it, I am open to discussing the book in the comments.

I actually co-wrote The Retreat series with Craig. Our War was fun, but he had to pull a lot of punches in order to satisfy the publisher. He’s a very imaginative guy, I look forward to working with him again in the future.

What would you say is his best work? I just finished suffer the children and loved it.

I read the book last night.
Writing style is "young adult fiction".
Seemed to have a slant to the left.
But it was an interesting read.

I agree with the left leaning slant. I had to remind myself to look at it from a humanist/apolitical perspective.
Definitely seems like a book that can be marketed to many age groups, despite it being classified as young adult fiction.
I sincerely hope that my nephews don't have to grow up in a world like that.

Going to check it out.
Got it and the ARMOR series downloading now.
If anybody here is a reader, check out the Ashes series by William Johnstone.

r/preppers is definitely more intelligent, on average, than most discussion boards on the Internet. I rarely see any kind of books being discussed. Just a side note.

I think I read some zombie books from him back in the day.

Likewise, he's a good writer.
