Does CGT principle private residence relief apply?

We are considering creating an annexe from our existing home (which we have only lived in for 6 months or so) in order to sell off part and recoup some money. Would the annexed part be subject to CGT on any gain since when we bought the whole property or would principle private residence relief apply to remove the gain? We have used the annex as part of the house for the 6 months but have made a planning application recently for the works. Any advice greatly appreciated
