Ye, my dad is in a care home, he got taken to hospital on Monday, 24hrs in a&E waiting for a bed, the doctor talked him out of a dnr ( been sorted), he's had loads of fluids drained that contained load of blood, He can't stand on his own, can't use the big handled cutlery because he can't grip, I used to visit my mum's brother before he went, and it's bringing back memories I don't want, he described himself as a useless fat slug, because he just laid on his bed waiting, watching shit TV,

So I've just looked this up and found out that you can get it on areas that aren't exposed to the sun. Didn't know that. New fear unlocked. I'm so white you could mistake me for a ghost. Keep kicking cancers arse though guys. And absolutely wearing sun screen.

Last year I had a stage 1 melanoma removed from the inside of my upper thigh, very random place to get one but that's how I also learned they don't necessarily have to be on sun-exposed places either!

I was diagnosed with severe sleep apnea a few weeks ago and on Wednesday I received a CPAP machine. Surprised how quickly I have adapted to it and my AHI has dropped from 31 to 1.6 which is a massive improvement. I'm already feeling so much more alert when waking up so today I am going to get some housework done and start the annual big garden clean up, whereas in the past I would have probably laid in bed all day!

I have been using my CPAP for about four months now. I’m certainly less sleepy. I’m down from around 19 events a night to around 2. I still feel pretty worn out though. Sleep tracking has estimated that I only get about 4% deep sleep a night. The normal average is around 25%. I can only dream (literally it would seem) of what I would feel like with 1-2 hours of deep sleep rather than fifteen minutes.

At the start of November I had a pre-op assessment done which included bloods for carpal/cubital tunnel surgery, the results showed elevated levels of bicarbonate. The anaesthetist flagged this up and wanted me to have a referral to a sleep clinic before he was happy putting me under. The private hospital had to send the blood results to my GP who then referred me to the sleep clinic, as I had the surgery through my workplace health insurance at a Spire hospital. Around the start of January my appointment came to visit the sleep clinic, they went through all my symptoms etc and sent me home with a blood oxygen monitor to wear for two nights while sleeping. I had a letter then booking me in for an appointment this week where I was issued the cpap machine and explained my results etc So around 4 months from flagging up raised bicarbonate/possible sleep apnea to receiving my cpap machine. Hope this helps!

Finishing work at 1pm, having a haircut, a video call with a potential client then another with an old friend. I've not touched alcohol in 3 weeks and might be going to a gig tonight. Admittedly the 3 weeks have coincided with not having social plans (I only drink when I'm out, I don't keep booze in the house as I know what I'm like) and this will be a "real test" to see if I'll crumble in a venue for alcohol. The issue is I love a pint but that becomes 4 which becomes more and.. before I know it I'm £50+ down and hungover with major anxiety the next day lol.
