Cell Phone Stipend

Anybody move from a corporate owned smartphone model to personal smartphone phone stipend model? How is it going for you and if you care to share how much per month are your users reimbursed? Intune/Endpoint manager seems to have a lot of features which would make the personal cell stipend model work a lot better.

This depends on your need, are you on the road. Do you do a lot of calls? What is the expectation. There is times with separate management of device and company data to your own. Intune management still means your own device is managed by the company

We do not allow company data on BYOD devices. I switched to a company owned device and ported my personal number to VOIP.ms which cost me a few bucks per year. We allow the personal/work profile on our managed devices so I've just accepted the risk that should anything happen I can wipe the personal side of my phone and get a new phone, restore a backup, port my personal number back.

Why would I sign up to have my personal phone enrolled in InTune? You want me to have remote access to the corporate email system on your terms, you give me a phone. I can take calls and texts on a personal phone without being enrolled but if there will requirement to enroll to access emails, it’s either corp phone or no email.

Thanks all for the insight, I was expecting to see monthly stipends in the \~$20.00 range. At the stipend rates I am seeing here it is much cheaper for us to issue a company phone on the company plan. Our corporate plan it's about $30.00/mo per additional phone and I think when you divide the total monthly bill (including base charges and some per user upgrades like international and hotspot) by total number of phones we have deployed it still comes out to less than $40.00/mo. This is actually good news to me because I was asked to explore this as a cost cutting measure, the fact that it would actually cost more money and potentially be less secure makes my recommendation to senior leadership much easier.

Distribution company here. Per month - IIRC $50 for drivers/helpers, $75 for sales/admin, and $150 for some managers. All sales reps also have a company iPad and drivers have a (very) locked down iphone while on the road.

That is interesting, at that reimbursement rate it is much cheaper to give our users a phone on the corporate account. I think each additional phone only costs us about $30/mo and we typically get the previous generation iPhone for free when adding a line.

Reimbursement for us is per manager's approval. My IT Director lets our team reimburse. Every 3 or 4 months I just pull cell phone bills from the plan I'm on with my family, break out my line, and submit an expense report. It's not very exciting.
