Work life balance is killing me softly

I am currently a company OTR truck driver almost with two years experience. My company has me running almost every week. currently an OTR truck driver almost with two years experience. My company has me running almost every week The miles are good and the pay is decent, but asking for days off is a pain in the butt, I feel that my life is fading away. I get to see people enjoying their life through social media and I’m stuck here doing eight day trips and running on recap hours and doing 34s I am tired of this bs I wish I could just tell my dispatcher to f@$k off but have bills to pay should I just suck it up or find another company that is more lenient on home time? 1yr 6 months experience please advise

Find a new company. I drive for a small family company, we get all holidays off and holiday pay on top of it.

Pretty much every company has it's set of headaches, you need to decide which ones you're willing to live with. There's often a trade off. If home time is high on your priority list, then find a company that is willing to provide that. You might get more looking over your shoulder, or lower pay, or less desirable equipment. Like I said, there's often a trade off.

Pick Thanksgiving. Give notice just before Christmas and cite this message. You'll have the experience, Thanksgiving, and Christmas off. If you like the company renegotiate pay after Thanksgiving. You'll be an experienced driver with a proven safety record and they need you over Christmas a lot more than you need them.

I agree it's phrased poorly, but I *think* they're saying that the driver will need to choose between having Christmas or Thanksgiving off this year, not being able to have both. I don't think that they're saying the driver can't take time off between now and then, though.

"I don't request the time off, I am being courteous and telling you I wont be in." Pushback has always come from offhanded comments like that but some more nagging on my end tends to shut them up. The likely hood of you being able find a better place with 2 years is decently high I would say.
