France is not a welcoming country

Sorry for the rant but I'm tired of everything being a struggle. Moved here just over a year ago now and every single step has been difficult. I have a good remote job based in another country, you'd think it would be a win-win for France as I'm making money abroad yet paying tax here so I'm bringing money into the country. Yet it means they won't give me healthcover (the state flat-out told me that), I can't get a mortgage despite earning as much as my wife's brother, sister and brother-in-law put together. Struggled to find anywhere to rent as people are so risk averse they just don't want to know. After six months of searching we've ended up in this shitty tiny house near a main road where cunts constantly drive up and down on loud scooters all day. The bureaucracy is openly hostile at every step - everything has to be done in person yet there's never any appointments. The amount of times my wife has had to go in person to the Mairie with paper printouts and copies of everything is just crazy. The Internet exists, people. Use it. Had to fight to get my Visa renewed, of course they didn't give a full renewal but an extension for some arcane reason that I'm unaware of so I'm currently fighting to get an appointment before my extension expires and I get deported. All this and I'm married to a French citizen and have two children who are also French citizens. When I changed my driving license they held up the process until just before my Visa expiry date then rejected it as my Visa was expiring (despite the fact I was going through the renewal process at the time). Dealing with the police is unpleasant, they're just twats. Fortunately I've only had to do that once. If it were up to me I'd be off to another country in a heartbeat but unfortunately I'm stuck here for the time being. All I can offer is advice to anyone with romantic notions of this country who is thinking of moving here - don't. Move somewhere forward-thinking instead.
