Is there such a thing as a bulletproof tarp or tarp that is resistant to knife slashes? What are some products like this? And what sizes do they come in?
ColdasJones@reddit
dunno about slashproof tarps, but i know for a fact bulletproof tarps or other bulletproof light, thin cheap material doesnt exist. closest thing would be kevlar, but its not usually obtainable in large sheets and would require multiple layers to have a chance at stopping something. I think life would be very fundamentally different if we had access to cheap, large area materials that could reliably stop rifle rounds lol
RoosterIllusionn@reddit
They do have socks and shirts that are cut resistant that some hockey players wear, I'm assuming there's so Kevlar in there, but not sure.
Traditional-Leader54@reddit
There are lots of cut resistant gloves for work and also for use in the kitchen. I think they all have Kevlar in the material.

This is the most logical explanation for everyday things that would be affordable unless you happen to Work for a Third Party Gov contractor who does or doesn’t participate in the process of Embedding diamond dust into Carbon fiber like fabric to make a ultra light, yet strong fabric that can withstand Rapid/Subtle changes kinetic energy in a multitude of variables. The lack of punctuation makes this statement possible…
thevinator@reddit
Yeah. It would be better, cheaper and lighter to just wear armor yourself. And that way your protected even outside your tarp base

NO SUCH THING AS BULLET PROOF!!! Nothing is bullet proof just the same as nothing is fire proof.
Traditional-Leader54@reddit
Isn’t water fire proof?
ChevyJim72@reddit
no it turns to steam
Traditional-Leader54@reddit
At a high enough pressure it will remain a liquid or even become a solid though. Ignoring that steam is fire proof then.
Rude_Story4528@reddit
It becomes superheated and over saturated with Heat. ie Latent heat. Which makes it Dry Steam, but not a Solid in any way. It’s just Invisible Steam that has Enough energy to Level a block if a Refrigerator sized vessel full of said Steam were pierced. Steam is still the Most Efficient Way of energy transfer and produces 90% of the power we so much take for granted. Sorry I had to make that clear. Steam cannot become solid while it is being heated only during rapid Sublimation into ice. But idk is a phase change that extreme is possible on earth.

Get yourself a good vibranium suit. Very light weight and practically indestructible. A bit on the expensive side but well worth every penny.
DannyBones00@reddit
What problem are you trying to solve?
HaydeaseUK@reddit
The problem of being shot at and then stabbed in his sleep I guess :)
Piggybear87@reddit
God dammit, Danny. No one invited you!

Balderdash79@reddit
Just sent an email to armorexpress asking for price.weight of the 4x8 ballistic blanket. If it is under $200 i'll get one for the bedroll for deer season.
bbrosen@reddit
hope you find what you are looking for, I did not look at prices
kitastrophae@reddit
The things that are bullet proof are not knife proof and the things that are knife proof are not bullet proof.
Si_Renn@reddit
If they are able to find a bullet proof tarp/material and a knife proof tarp/material, couldn't they just put them together? One on top of the other. Or would the properties of the materials not work when used together? I'm not sure if these materials exist I'm just wondering if they did would this work?
ph0en1x778@reddit
Problem would be weight, a 10x10 of that would be like 50lbs, the second would be price, it would cost several hundred dollars if not over a grand. I know cut resistant fabrics exist, and Kevlar is bulletproof when thick enough, so both of these factors are probably why it doesn't exist as a product.
Erikoisjaakari@reddit
Yes, you can do that. Some bulletproof soft vests do exactly that.
Jazman1985@reddit
UHMWPE seems to do both things pretty well. I have a couple 1/2" sheets I have yet to test vs 9mm, but they do make commercial armor out of it so it must be effective.
SwimmingThink4519@reddit
I think that Superman's cape was bullet and stab proof?
Evil_Knot@reddit
No.
Just dig a trench and cover it with a tarp.
incruente@reddit
No, of course not. Body armor isn't even bulletproof.
Thanato26@reddit
It's bullet resistant!
Lordbedbug@reddit
Welding blanket
AFK_MIA@reddit
Spectra fabric maybe?
Expensive-Coffee9353@reddit
Mossy Oak had some material out a few years ago. Seemed it took 3 layers to do any good. The seat covers were their seller.
backcountry57@reddit
Armor is heavy. Light armor is expensive and not that much lighter. There is no way around it.
HOWEVER the French secret service use bulletproof umbrellas to protect the president. So it does exist if you have the budget
Balderdash79@reddit
And do they prance while deploying those umbrellas?
Borealisfarms@reddit
Corrugated tin is good against knives. It can be used as a tarp
Scared_of_zombies@reddit
A steel plate is as close as you’ll feasibly get.
MattAtDoomsdayBrunch@reddit
Yeah, I think John Wick's suit jacket is made out of this material.
Hyphen_Nation@reddit
I was just thinking, didn't John Wick wear some of this special fabric? :)
advamputee@reddit
Generally it takes about 20-50 layers of Kevlar fabric to stop small rounds. Depending on the thickness of the weave, one or a few layers should prevent most knife attacks. Kevlar shears would still be able to cut through but I doubt many people have those on hand.
therealharambe420@reddit
Not really. If there it would be to heavy to be useful.
There is such thing as a bomb blanket but I doubt it is bullet resistant or stab resistant mostly to prevent shrapnel debris.
czgunner@reddit
When I was active Army, we lined our 5 ton troop beds with kevlar blankets to (hopefully) stop some fragmentation. Won't stop rifle rounds.

If the fabric exists, then bolts of fabric exist. Track down the fabric supplier and buy a piece for making a tarp.
Gimli-Elf-Friend@reddit
Kevlar

Many politicians have guards around with ballistic shields that fold and look like a suitcase. Google ‘ballistic suitcase’ maybe you can buy a roll of ballistic fabric they use for custom bullet resistant clothing, alibaba….
3771507@reddit
Bulletproof panels that they put in places like police stations.
CCWaterBug@reddit
There's a "wine store" in Rome that has this.
My friend Mr Wick is a customer
Ask for "tactical "
Expensive_Feature107@reddit
You can probably buy a roll of whatever material they use for slash proof sleeves/gloves that police and kitchen staff use. They sell welding blankets pretty cheap at harbor freight that I saw someone use with resin to make a bullet resistant vest. Neither of those items will work as a bullet proof tarp. But they could protect from knives or light shrapnel. Some testing would be needed before attempting to field it
