Back to basics books

Anyone know of any books that may be good to have on hand with various basic living skills for post collapse: how to make vinegar (for picking), how to make basic wood structures without hardware, prepping common animals like deer and fish, basic foraging, etc.?
I’ve been thinking it would be good to have a laminated book of useful skills like this on hand should some post-collapse survival be needed.
Thanks!

Books are a great resource. BUT if you have never done anything like this and try it when it's live or die, you are not going to fair well. I could tell you how to field dress a deer, you field dressing a deer is a very different experience. Much like driving vs reading a book about driving. It's best to practice skills now.

Yes figure it out before it’s do or die is good advice

Sure but better to have a starting point for trial and error than a compete shot in the dark.

I'm a big fan of books. Books are totally better than nothing. But a lot of this is going to be better on the apprentice model.

You make a valid point I have a set of back to basics books (set of four books) that were published in the 1970s pre-internet. If there is a nuclear war or apocalypse there won’t be any satellites or internet to download any recipes or building instructions. I just searched back to basics books and everything is kindle or pdf but we might not even have electricity. People who don’t know life pre-internet just don’t get it. I was thinking to sell my books but I think I better keep them and hand them down.

Have you considered searching Amazon for the words "back to basics"? Because there is literally a book called that and it has the exact information you're looking for.

Alot of these things, if you don't already know how to clean a fish or dress a deer, build a structure, and other useful skills, post shtf isn't really the time to figure it out

Encyclopedia of Country Living by Carla Emery is a good resource.

Just go through the used book dealers. There's tons of old books about all of it. Interestingly they often have snippets that you can't find online anymore. Knowledge that would otherwise be lost to time. The older the book the greater the likelihood of that.
