Why so many Gorani posts lately 😭. 99.9% of Balkaners have never interacted with one. I have tho, a Gorani guy had a little Kiosk shop where he would make sandwiches right outside of Abdyl Frashëri elementary school in Prizren. They were banging for €0.25. I didn’t know he was Gorani until my dad spoke Serbo-Croatian with him and then told me. He had an accent and his Albanian wasn’t very good so I never thought he was Albanian but didn’t think much of it.
What assumptions am I making 🤣? That the vast majority of people will never ever interact with a Gorani in their life? That’s a fact, you being an exception doesn’t change the norm. It’s not that hard a concept to grasp. For example I have yet to even meet a Bulgarian or Montenegrin.
Only ones I've ever met were the ones who ran a sweet shop in Peja called "Jadran." I couldn't even tell they were Gorani until my cousin told me. The place is now closed, shame because they made great boze and baklave.
I guess they really have a thing for the Adriatic lol. The shop was so iconic that when it closed it made national news.

Patron and protector saint that Serbian Ortodox Christians have. Every family has one, like Saint Nicholas, or Saint John, but there are a lot of smaller ones, like Saint Mrata.
From my quick research, it seems that a small minority of Gorani identify as Bulgarians, and this is a request to acknowledge them as a minority, and not to claim all Gorani people as Bulgarian.
Probably. I would say Gorani are the closest to Torbesi before anything else, and Bulgaria is under the opinion that all North Macedonians are Bulgarians, therefore they indirectly claim Gorani as Bulgarian too.
These are the Gorani that live in Albania. We that live in Kosovo have almost no interactions with them. I havent even heard of this celebration hahaha.
No, but I would like to go next time I visit Kosovo, which probably won't be until next summer unfortunately.
Also are you talking about the stadium in Brodosana?
Generally well integrated in Kosovo. I had a Gorani coleague once, he was a very nice guy, and also met a Gorani guy.
Other than that, too small of a population to have a strong opinion on them
Ethnically they are like the torbesh people which are part of the Macedonian(Bulgarian) ethnicity but for some reason serbia convinced them that they are serbs.
Even during Yugoslavia Gorani were Gorani, and I never heard that anyone tried to convince them they are something else... Over all there was positive attitude towards them.
I had Gorani classmates in Belgrade's Elementary and High School. They had non Slavic names but they feel and identify as Serbs.
Used to hang out with one Gorani girl in High School. They bullied her a lot. She left the school in next semester.
My opinion about the Gorani people is extremely positive, one of my highschool friends is Gorani, I know him and his father and I can say these people are really honest, honorable and good. Hardworkers. So, in my personal experience, I can say only the good things about Gorani people.
I’ve went hiking in that area. Walked right in the middle of their villages and no one came out lol. They seem peaceful, like the Amish in US. If they’re considered Bulgarians that’s a new fact to me. Better that then Serbs lol, they’ll want an association even in Albania if thats the case🤣
