What adverts have made you want to buy a product?

I have two answers to your question because I think there are two ways this can happen, for me personally. The first is an ad which successfully communicates to me that the product advertised meets some need I have. These are rare but they do happen, and most of the time if I'm purchasing something based on an ad I've seen, this'll be why. The second, less obvious, form of advertising that works is that which is simply repeated over and over. I worked for a digital marketing agency for a number of years and one of the products I worked on leant heavily on the concept of the "meal deal". You go into any off license and get a packaged sandwich, and you get a packet of crisps and a soft drink for nearly free (like 10p extra). Suffice to say, the sandwich is the main thing, you want something substantial but portable - a lot of people don't bother getting the crisps and drink. I did, though, while I was working on this product. I got the meal deal pretty much every day. I couldn't explain exactly why - it was just what I craved at lunchtime. I have absolutely no doubt this craving was driven by seeing the marketing for it continually all day.
