Well you implied it was on a scale. I gave the other end of the scale as a funny example. You've seen to taken what was meant to be a funny example of the utter shit hospital food can delve to and taken that to heart. No idea why.
View on Reddit #20805891

cotch85@reddit

Not taken anything to heart, youre saying this picture is closer to a roast than scrambled eggs and mashed potatoes your granddad got in hospital. Like no shit? Never understood yorkshire pudding. What's the point? I'd rather have a slice of bread / cornbread.
View on Reddit #20767506

cotch85@reddit

Not really comparable to a slice of bread. But its a great addition to a roast dinner. Not really much to understand, they taste great, they hold gravy and they taste great. Have you ever had a yorkshire pudding?
View on Reddit #20768532

deathraft@reddit

No, I assume it has the texture of a crunchy crepe? If you're using it to hold gravy, doesn't it get soggy? I live in dixie. A roast dinner is a bit of a rarity here. The closest thing I can think of is Barbecue. Comenly served with either cornbread or simple sandwich bread.
View on Reddit #20769196

cotch85@reddit

texture of a crunchy crepe i dont know but i guess taste wise sure... But basically theyre crispy and airy due to them rising in hot oil. A good yorkshire pudding shouldnt be soggy even with gravy, it should hold it and keep its form. I wouldnt say a yorkshire pudding is similar to a bit of cornbread with bbq, or a roast dinner being like bbq. It's like a thanksgiving dinner you have i think? It's really hard to explain it, but i think the crunchy crepe/pancake would probably be in the ballpark. You could easily turn it into a sweet dish as well. They're delicious and a good change of texture to mix with veg/meat etc.
View on Reddit #20770986

Artificial-Brain@reddit

The best yorkies are crispy on the outside but softer on the inside imo. It just depends what you're used to I guess.
View on Reddit #20771223

cotch85@reddit

Stretchy is maybe a better word? I don’t like a soft middle but the outside should be crispy enough to not turn soggy with gravy
View on Reddit #20774923

Artificial-Brain@reddit

I don't think I'd enjoy a stretchy Yorkshire pud lol I think it's all partly about what you grew up with tbh.

When you say soft I just think of a lump of Yorkshire pudding like a big square bit of it.
View on Reddit #20775714

Nah, I mean a standard shape with a crispy outside and a slightly softer centre. Puds that are totally crispy just remind me of the frozen ones, which are generally not so good.

You can make some delicious chicken in the oven and it’s almost no effort. Just season, cover, and wait. Try to use a pan that isn’t too big for the amount of chicken being made. Maybe broil the top of it if it has skin. Make it crispy and tasty.

All good UK food has seasoning. A lot of meat in the US is seasoned to the point that you can't even tell what it's supposed to be. I had a lot of good food in the US, but there's definitely a tendency to cover up the taste of poor quality meat with excessive seasoning over there. Different tastes, i suppose.
