Anyone who’ve tried SendMyBag shipping services? How was it? Do I just pack and declare the stuff in the box or wait for their courier to check then pack?

I need to know since I am planning to move to another country (Philippines to Sweden) and boxing the items before I fly seems a better idea than making my relative do it. So, how does it go with SendMyBag? Any insight helps. Thanks.

Avoid this company. I paid to ship an extra suitcase from Spain to the U.S. and was given a 9-hour pickup window, but no driver ever arrived. I wasted an entire vacation day waiting, while customer service repeatedly assured me the pickup was still happening. At the end of the day, they told me I had to take the bag to the airport cargo area myself, offered no refund, and showed little concern for the inconvenience. I ended up spending extra money on transportation, navigating a loading dock in Spanish, and handling the shipment on my own. Overall, it was an extremely frustrating experience with poor customer service and no accountability.

I have used SendmyBag for years without issue but on this last trip, a item for opened for a security check by DHL (it had a sticker saying so) and an expensive mahjong game was missing. SendMyBag were awful to the point where I game up doing the insurance claim. I'll never use them again - there are other companies.
Mindless_Cabinet8163@reddit
Which other companies do you recommend. They list a moving box for \~$177, while DHL is charging over $1000 for the same box, so would be very curious if there is a reliable option that is not crazy expensive. Looking to just ship a few books and some climbing gear, mabye worth $300.

SevenSeas offer a similar service, as do other courier companies. Also MyBaggage - but haven't used them
Snoo-2485@reddit
I ABSOLUTELY DO NOT RECOMMEND SendMyBag. Save yourself the money and heartache - use a company with proper insurance and accountability.
THE SHORT VERSION FOR BUSY READERS:
Spent over $3,000 with SendMyBag across multiple shipments in just 3 months. Always bought their additional coverage. When I finally needed that coverage after items worth thousands went missing, they denied my claim using contradictory statements and paid an insulting amount for my documented losses. Three missed pickups before the loss even occurred. Claims handler Emma McKimm contradicted her own written statements. As a loyal repeat customer, this treatment was unacceptable.
THE FULL STORY:
1) OPERATIONAL FAILURES - Before Items Even Went Missing:
Pickup scheduled December 15, 2025 - no one showed. December 16 - driver came but refused to take all bags, claiming shipment was "too large" (it wasn't). December 17 - finally picked up remaining bags. I was trapped in my apartment for THREE DAYS waiting. SendMyBag rep promised "goodwill consideration" - never received it.
2) THE LOSS:
Shipped 5 duffel bags Paris to California with €1,000+ coverage purchased. Four bags arrived with torn plastic wrapping. Those same four bags had missing items totaling thousands of dollars (all documented with receipts). The one bag with intact wrapping? Nothing missing. The pattern was obvious - tampering during transit, visible in their own courier's delivery photo.
3)CLAIMS DENIAL TACTICS:
My claim was handled by Emma McKimm (Customer Satisfaction representative). Here's what she did:
-January 2: I provided full documentation of all missing items. She accepted it with no issues raised about any items being "prohibited."
-January 12: She wrote that one bag (containing high-value item) met their packaging standards.
-February 17 (over 6 weeks later): She suddenly:
A) Denied coverage for ALL bags claiming inappropriate packaging - directly contradicting her January 12 written statement
B) Claimed one item category was "prohibited" - never mentioned when I provided documentation on January 2, only raised AFTER being cornered on her contradictory packaging statements
Throughout the process she repeatedly asked me to provide information I'd already submitted multiple times - including requesting details in response to an email that literally contained those details.
4)THE SETTLEMENT:
After months of back-and-forth and clear evidence of tampering: €200 settlement was offered. For a customer who spent over $3,000 in 3 months and always purchased coverage? Insulting.
RED FLAG - LIMITED REVIEW PLATFORMS:
SendMyBag notably does NOT have Google Reviews or Yelp pages. This is unusual for a service company and limits where customers can share experiences publicly. The absence of these major platforms means negative experiences are less visible to people researching the company. Ask yourself: why would a legitimate service company avoid the two biggest review platforms? Also all of their reviews are on their domain and unverified by Google search.
WHAT THIS MEANS FOR YOU:
If you're considering SendMyBag, understand:
✗ Their "coverage" may not be honored when you actually need it
✗ Claims handlers may directly contradict their own written statements
✗ Rules can be applied retroactively to deny legitimate claims
✗ Settlement offers have no relationship to actual losses or customer loyalty
✗ Being a high-value repeat customer means nothing
✗ Operational failures (missed pickups, partial pickups) are common
✗ Limited review presence makes researching their true track record difficult
✗ This is NOT insurance despite being marketed as protection
MY BACKGROUND:
I was referred to SendMyBag by a parents community. I chose them based on positive reviews. I was a loyal customer who spent over $3,000 in just 3 months and purchased coverage on every single shipment. I trusted them with valuable items. That trust was misplaced.
FINAL VERDICT:
They lost a $3,000+ repeat customer over terrible claims handling and operational failures. When the coverage I consistently purchased was actually needed, they used contradictory statements, retroactive rules, and insulting settlements to deny my valid claim. AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!

I just used them from a LA USA to London UK send of 2 bags and they were great. Everything was on time. Picked up 3PM PT Thursday and delivered by 1PM BT Monday.
All the preparation steps were clear. They were collected within the window set and arrived on the day as predicted.
They use DHL from US to UK. I put AirTags in each of the bags and it was extremely satisfying following their journey over the weekend. Would recommend to others & will use again.

Just an update on this thread that I used Send My Bag to ship a large, 40 lb cardboard box from a small city in Oregon to a suburb of Nice, France and it could not have been better. The delivery driver even brought the box up to the door of my apartment, rather than leaving it downstairs with the Gardien. The box actually arrived 2 days early too. I will for sure use them again!

How was your experience with the service. I'm German living in USA and moving back in March. Looking for service to ship 9 suitcases .
Happycat_xyz12@reddit
I am in the exact same boat. What did you decide on if I may ask?
GermanAmericanabroad@reddit
Haven't decided yet what to do but time is running out. I may be stuck paying for additional luggage or DHL service
thedistantdenzen@reddit
They shipped our bag, it arrived and a week later they sent me an email asking for more money. Would not use them again
Impressive_Beyond289@reddit (OP)
From where ‘til where was it sent?
GermanAmericanabroad@reddit
How much more and what did you send
Aggravating_Sound262@reddit
Our bags are lost in the wind and they have just stopped communicating completely. First they said they would contact DHL and see what the problem was. We heard nothing. We followed up with DHL ourselves and found out that our bags were separated. Since then it’s been 100% radio silence. The customer service went from helpful and friendly to useless and rude.
This company doesn’t actually do anything once the bags are sent. Or lost in our case. Like a lot of modern companies, it’s just middlemen with a website. And their tracking is NOT accurate I don’t care what excuses they give you.
I’ll give them another week and then I’m disputing the charge on my card.
Aggravating_Sound262@reddit
I posted this 10 days ago and we have not gotten our bags, and Sendmybags hasn't done anything since. Not even an email. We have made so many phone calls to DHL and Chilean customs and Sendmybag won't even answer an email. Honestly one of the worst companies I've ever dealt with. They refuse to contact anyone regarding this. Do not use this company.

I paid a luggage service to deliver my suitcase from London to Austria.
I paid for door-to-door service. Their delivery partner FedEx refused to bring it to the address and told me I had to travel 120 kilometers to pick it up myself.
I tried to call their support 7 times — no answer, each time disconnected after 30 minutes. I have screenshot of the calls and wait time.
I had no choice but to travel 120 km and lay 400 euros in taxis to rescue my bag.
When I was prompted to send in a comment about my experience, I wrote them and I was told I should have contacted them by after I had already tried repeatedly
After I posted about it on Instagram, instead of helping me, they removed my comments.
Imagine paying for delivery, doing the delivery yourself, and then getting silenced for saying it.
joftoday@reddit
We had a great experience with them. They picked up our bags on a Monday afternoon in New Mexico (3 boxes and 2 large suitcases) and they were delivered to us near Bayonne on Thursday. So 3 days. It wasn't cheap, but it was fast and we had no issues whatsoever.

I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE. SHAMEFUL.
I am a ski instructor; that's my job. I work in Switzerland, but this year I decided to go skiing in Japan for the season. My sister lives in Barcelona, so before leaving, I decided to visit her and fly from there. To make my trip to Barcelona easier, I contacted "Send My Bag" to send my ski bag with all my work equipment: (2 pairs of skis, ski boots, clothing, and more). I sent the bag on October 1, 2025, and it arrived in Barcelona on October 7, 2025. Since then, I haven't heard anything about the bag. It NEVER arrived at my sister's (the final destination). Today, November 5, 2025, I still haven't received any answers about what's happening. Absolutely nothing. Not a single bit of help. NOTHING. This service cost me 260 euros. NOT CHEAP. I won't stop until I find my suitcase and until they give me an answer. All I get is, "We don't know what happened, we're looking for it." How can a suitcase just disappear? Where is it? In my mind, the only conclusion I can draw is that it was stolen.

SendMyBag is a company that purely serves as a broker who practically does nothing in case your belongings struggle to be delivered. I sent two 20kg boxes and SendMyBag suggested I declare everything under £150 so I avoid Slovak customs. A week later I get a call that my belongings were over 150€ meaning I nead to pay tax on them. I explained to FedEx that these are non-goods personal belongings and FedEx said they don't deal with personal goods so to release my items I need to pay tax. Now my belongings have been stored somewhere waiting to be taxed for over 3 weeks. When I called SendMyBag, they said that I should've read T&C where it's supposedly the customer's responsibility to check the delivery country's laws around tax. But the fact that they even sent my things with FedEx not knowing that they don't deal with personal goods is madness to me.

So unhappy with your service. Spent an entire day of vacation waiting for pick up. Bag was never retrieved. Had to pay $80 to Uber to drop off location. Was then charged an over-volume fee. Customer service was polite but poor. I rarely write reviews, but will be going out of my way to let travelers and my travel agent know that using Send My Bag is not worth the trouble or cost.
HeyLie3890@reddit
I have used them and all they did was to lose my bag in transit UK -> FR. Customer service could not care less, did not investigate and simply proceed to pay the 100 € insurance and close the case, they told me it wasn't their fault and to deal directly with transporter (FedEx). Needless to say I never saw any of my items ever again and that was over a year ago. I don't see what they add really.. Just use transporter directly FedEx, UPS etc.) because SendMyBags folks are very useless and only here to take your money.
Salt-Parsley4971@reddit
When I’ve used them they contract out to DHL. Just make sure to read their prohibited list. And to weigh and measure your boxes (and preferably take a photo of the measurements). Twice they tried to charge me after delivery claiming the package was larger than I said but the first time I still had the box so could take the photo to send them and the second time I had preemptively taken photos.

Responding to the incomplete response by SendMy bag team. I was Charged 3X 'After' I had shipped. First by SendMyBag, for my Golf bag dimensions Being "TWICE" their size limitation (130cm). Here is the link to my standard golf bags that I have been using for the last 7 years from Club Glove. These are standard Golf specifications and I had 3 of these bags (52" inches x 13" x 13" (i. E., 132 cms x 32cms x 32cms. [Refer: www dot clubglove dotcom /club-traveler]
In other words, my Industry-standard golf bags exceeded by 2 cms (by 1.5%) and they charged me 294 British Pounds for that. On top of that, their "partner" UPS courier charged me $235.95 extra when delivering me at home. UPS would not hand me my bags unless I gave them the check/ cheque, which I did - Dated June 5,2025. UPS cashed it on June 20,2025. Yet, UPS sent me another letter this week for the same amount $235.95! If that was not enough, SendmyBag also forced me to share my SSN (social security number) with UPS, who then shared it with US Customs authority. If not, they said my bags would not be released! I have never shared my SSN with anyone yet! So, I ended up paying $1000+ for my 3 standard golf bags and exposing my SSN! SendMy bag team responded below saying to keep the value below 500 Brit Pounds - How can 3 used Golf bags be less than 500 B Pounds in Customs value unless the customer is lying? SendMyBag team is a bunch of liars. Use them at your own risk. Next time I will try ShipSticks for this service. Send My Bag does not know how to ship Golf bags. When I disputed the extra $400, Sendmybag threatened me with legal action. I will be taking my case to USA's CFPB - consumer financial protection bureau now. Never again with Sendmybag.
Sufficient-Dot1786@reddit
Send My Bag is really unprofessional. I shipped standard size golf bags in standard golf travel bag. Even after following all their detailed cumbersome checklist and terms, they over-charged me with a bill of $300 Pounds - AFTER - I had already shipped - saying my bags were oversized. Their US courier UPS charged me $300 on top of that and would not release my 3 standard golf bags until I paid them. They also forced me to share my SSN. It was the worst customer experience I have ever had.

I used them in 2019 moving from U.K. to USA. It was great! Fair price and quick service. They shipped via dhl. I recently checked again to send some things from my family in the U.K. to USA, and the price had really jumped up, for that large box it was cheaper to go direct and book with dhl.
As other folks have said, always thoroughly check the prohibited items when packing your boxes and use strong double wall cardboard boxes. I also over applied tape to my boxes as they can get bashed up in transit. Good luck!
Lcs_chn@reddit
hello! may I ask how much (weight and cost) it was for you? thank you!
Kirobo7@reddit
Hi,
I helped run the N.Ireland office in 2019, It all depends on length & height as well as weight for items. You can get a quote from them before paying for their service. For example, a pair of skis are lighter than a suitcase but a lot different in measurements. They're happy to provide a quote.
Hope that helps.
External-Context9027@reddit
After successful delivery and pretty smooth process, suddenly appeared “hidden fees”, like a “out courier service measured your parcel as 1cm more that stated”. At the moment platform is stated “we will take you to the court and you will find your credit story bad”. Never again, avoid without any doubts
I paid for my parcels 2400 euro, that's quite significant number for 6 boxes with books, clothes and toys, to have in one week "our partners laser measurements found your cardboard boxes ladger on 1 cm - pay additional 100+ euro"

I recently used Send My Bag and I was not at all satisfied with the services. I shipped my bag on 12/30, paid express shipping and was given a delivery date of 1/2. Given that I was going to be staying in different cities and countries during my trip, I had it shipped to where I’d be on 1/2. We weren’t scheduled to leave that city until 1/5 so I had a couple of days of leeway in case the delivery was late by a day or two. Once the bag was picked up the date changed by FIVE DAYS to 1/7. This created an absolute logistical nightmare. I spent my entire trip trying to figure out how to recover my bag and the items inside. In the end I had to pay additional money to have my bag returned to me in the US. My bag was picked up on 12/30, sat in Rome for over two weeks and was just shipped back to me on 12/16 and arrived on 12/22. Had I been given an accurate delivery date I would have opted not to send the bag or may have sent it to a different location based on where I’d be on that date. My email is full of correspondence back and forth between myself and Send My Bag trying to work out how to retrieve my bag. The entire experience was completely unacceptable.
Global-Ostrich2008@reddit
For anyone stumbling upon this thread, as others have said, this is a company that works well when there are no issues and is awful at problem-solving when there are hiccups.
Somehow, Send My Bag linked my send-ahead suitcases to another customer on a different continent. My labels were correct, but the barcodes were batched with someone else’s order, stupidly. Resolution took eight weeks, as Send My Bag would not admit to their own error (despite multiple UPS supervisors confirming this is definitely what happened) and had no B2B contacts at UPS to fix it. My bags went back and forth to the other side of the world FOUR times before I myself fixed the problem through a lot of time, effort, and begging with UPS.
I’m horribly out of pocket from their mistake and they’ve now “missed” issuing me my promised refund and I had to follow up twice. Next time, I’ll use a shipping company directly or just pay for extra bags at the airport. Total disaster.

I lost my bags and an expensive bike with this company. Raging! I paid to have things shipped from Qatar - UK, and after 6 months of failed attempts to pick up the bike I discovered that everything had been disposed of by the property management of the school compound where I’d been staying with my kids. My son was distraught having lost his new racer bike. I had help to try to prepare packaging for the bike again and again in Qatar after we left, but it was never PERFECT enough for this diabolical company, who seemed to want it hermetically sealed in an iron clad box, that was why our bags were never returned to us . I lost years of work/teaching resources and materials I‘d painstakingly made myself, not to mention personal items and clothing. I begged them to at least allow a partial return of my order, and to leave the bike but they refused. So, I lost it all! This has added to an already extremely difficult and distressing situation. In the end I got a partial refund but it was nothing in comparison to the value of our belongings. Do NOT trust this company. It has caused so much stress to me and to those who had assisted me, not to mention the cost of extra packaging, time and extensive communication across international borders. A United Nations Treaty could not have resolved things with this company as they were extremely high maintenance, dealing with untrustworthy third party delivery companies who were totally useless. A bunch of thieves and eventually found myself being gaslighted by Mirage property who lied through thier teeth, saying they’d had no contact from me either, having taken all my things to apparently dispose of them. I was taken for a ride and sadly my little kids and me will never see our possessions again as they’re lost forever, enjoyed by the creeps who set this up so that I would never get my things back again, no matter how hard myself or my colleagues had tried to get them sent back over. Disgusted.

We've used them a few times to ship things from the US to France. Essentially, once you select the shipping location on their website, it will walk you through the steps required. For us, we had to itemize the things in the boxes, print out the customs forms provided, print the shipping labels, and package everything up. The box/bag should be sealed and have all paperwork attached when the courier picks it up. But as I said, the website walks you through everything, from what to print, how to seal it up, and what forms to print. Great service, and our stuff arrived in just a few days after pickup.

It was around $170 per big box (we used the boxes from buying suitcases) - no idea honestly on weight. You can go to their website for an estimate from your location to your projected location without an account. We were very happy with the service!

Do NOT use this company, they are expensive, slow and have terrible customer service. Despite their business model being set up around shipping your personal belongings they provide very generic information when booking so you are open to exorbitant customs charges in many cases. When questioned about this they at first play dumb about the issue and then blame their customer when probed further, as if anyone would use their service knowing the hidden charges. You are much better off using an established courier service like FedEx (which was who actually shipped by stuff when using this service) alternatively if you are traveling to the same place as your shipment just pay for an extra bag it will be much more convenient and cheaper than this trash company
jjvaleri@reddit
Second time using them. First time Italy to US worked well. This time US to Italy has been a disaster. It is 16 days after swe shipped the bags to Italy and they have no arrived and, to make matters worse, their customer service has gone from ok to horrible and gets worse each day. They are now incredibly obnoxious when we ask each day where the bags are. They are stuck in customs, which is not their fault, but had they told us that customs takes weeks this time of year, we would not have used them. So they lied to get our business and now want no part of helping us get updates. Just a horrible experience and we may never see these bags again.

I used them last year for a move from Sydney to Philly. I had zero issues, and I would use them again.
Just make sure you follow the packing guidelines extremely carefully, especially when it comes to the prohibited list.
Maybird56@reddit
It worked fine for me, I’ve done it from two countries so far and not had any problems. Both times it was just DHL picking up the boxes. It has clear instructions online, just make a list as you pack.
Make sure to package everything really well and tape your box up along every seam and edge and don’t use a cheap box. Fragile items are at your own risk.
Impressive_Beyond289@reddit (OP)
Aha ok. I have yet to book their service but I would want to know beforehand. Does the list have to be specific? Like the brand and color and make of an item? Like “used H&M cotton shirt” or can it be just “used clothes”?
