Finally thinking about taking the plunge, but I have a few questions regarding Drivers, Chipsets and Hardware.

I'm about to start looking into distros and the nuts and bolts of all of this. But I'm wondering about compatibility and possibly quirks I may run into. I'm running: -A 5900x on a x470 chipset. -A 7900XTX GPU. -Unfortunately my Cooling is tied to iCue. Is there anything I need to be aware of with these key items in terms of functionality breaking? I want to move away from Windows as my primary OS, but do need stability. I've no problems using a VM or Dual Boot for gaming.

Try out Linux Mint Debian Edition if you want tons of stability. The iCue is an issue, I'll be honest. If you don't care about shelling out like ~$30 you can get a cheap replacement from Amazon or somewhere. I have a spare Wraith Spire (the taller one without RGB or copper) if you want to pay for shipping, it is missing the shroud (non-essential component) though. Not sure if it'll be enough to cool that 5900X, though. That GPU is new enough drivers might not be in the Kernel stack yet, so be prepared to use a bleeding edge distro (not Mint Debian Edition) until it's supported.

Do you know any good sources to check stuff like this? Just the Distro websites? TBH, I'm not turned off by the idea of spending time in the terminal, I've never had problems figuring out powershell or anything like that and understand some programming. So that's not too much of an issue as long as I have documentation to guide me as I get started.

The AIO requires it. Had I known iCue and their firmware was going to be a shit hole, I never would've bought anything corsair. Unfortunately, I gradually fell into that hole starting with a keyboard...

What happens if you don't have iCue? No RGB? Still *works* without it, right?

Cant control the pump speed. It defaults to low/high rpm. High RPM is obnoxious.

That sucks, I can control my LF II pump speed from BIOS and even at 100% I can't hear it.

Yeah, I honestly should have waited for the Artic or EK to be available. Unfortunately, the upgrade to an AIO was driven by the stock Wraith cooler failing. So I needed something. Should've slapped a cheap tower on it til one of those was available.

I run my pump at the lowest it goes 100% of the time, never experienced any issues or overheating. You might want to look into Coolero, I believe it works with Corsair (I’m not 100% sure tho)

There are tools to keep on using your windows apps and tools in Linux without having to run a VM, you have wine where you can check the app compatibility list on there database online. You can try install the app you are using to manage your fan curves... Beside that many of windows app have their open source counter part just take time to read the man pages for all the apps... And many of these app have the missing functionalities added through scripts and plug-ins... For the wine community on reddit check r/winehq
