Clarkson wasn't joking when he said he got fat and unfit
Posted by Zepanda66@reddit | thegrandtour | View on Reddit | 92 comments
Just watching the sand job now gosh that belly aye. He got properly fat didn't he? Still the same Jezza we know and love though. Just bigger. But now we can see why he wants to quit/slow down. Carrying that belly around must be tiring.
EducationalCity241@reddit
Clarkson saying he's fat and unfit is as pointless as his girlfriend claiming she's a gold digger as both are obvious
mrmoonlight87@reddit
Unlimited free beer will do that
mrpink57@reddit
All real men drink Rose.
Icy_Amphibian2898@reddit
i gotta be honest, rose is kinda ass. maybe because im spanish blooded lol but red wine on top, beer second
Ok-Investigator5148@reddit
You clearly don't know many real men
KashiofWavecrest@reddit
I wonder if it has to do with him quitting smoking?
plasteckfly@reddit
Nope. Just excess of food and drink consumption!
ConfusedGuy3260@reddit
Yup, he's even mentioned this was the exact reason for the weigh gain. I had no idea all the boys smoked during Top Gear
eagledog@reddit
It's offhand mentioned a couple of times, but never really made a plot point except when Clarkson talks about quitting
NotNotImYourForte@reddit
They mention Richard is having a smoke when they can't find him after or during jezzas guest interviews probably once a season during top gear. I didn't think James smoked.
MysteriousHousing489@reddit
James is the only one who still smokes
PookieMonster82@reddit
I saw an interview with Andy Wilman on YouTube a couple years ago. Not sure when it was recorded but sometime after The Grand Tour started because he said all 3 of them smoked and there was a lot of good material in Top Gear and The Grand Tour that ended up on the cutting room floor because one of them would have a cigarette in their hand and they couldn't show anyone smoking.
NotNotImYourForte@reddit
We need Richard Hammond to host the top gear top fails: broadcasting standards show of them with only cigarettes.
Darkerthanblack88@reddit
James did I seen him with cigarettes in his mouth
eagledog@reddit
James asked them if he fingers smelled like smoke during the 17 year old cars episode
NotNotImYourForte@reddit
I figured he was just making a joke about kids smoking not necessarily him smoking lol
MuchAccount@reddit
I have vague memories of James lighting up a pipe with some skill during an early news segment.
BySumbergsStache@reddit
that was the porsche design items, which included porsche designed pipes. Jeremy put the wrong end in his mouth, like a 911 and burned his mouth.
NotNotImYourForte@reddit
You're right. He would smoke a pipe. Cigs are for ruffians and yobbos
mrgreengenes04@reddit
There were a few YouTube videos of James from 2020-2022 or so and I recall seeing a pack of cigs on his desk, so I think he may still smoke. I know there's plenty of stories/pictures of him smoking in the Top Gear days.
DarkLinkLightsUp@reddit
I gained 30 lbs and am only backed off 10 of it. Feels.
KingMe091@reddit
I gained 20 and it's hell trying to get it off
DarkLinkLightsUp@reddit
Congrats on quitting smoking though, random internet friend. We will live longer, the weigh gain will reverse and our bodies reach a new and better homeostasis.
KingMe091@reddit
Thank new internet friend
Conspiruhcy@reddit
It absolutely has to do with this. Same thing happened with my old man, quit the cigs 10 years back and piled on weight which he has only now managed to shift
FormalTechnology560@reddit
I really like these three legends so much, which they are, but I cannot in the Love of God understand how no-one that is close to Jeremy isn't telling him to lose weight - now! Not to mention his Doc if he ever sees one. Or knows one TBH. Man that is so sad and alarming if you really like someone very much for many years. But it is up to him.He must be the fattest TV-star IN THE WORLD.:-O People in the ISS can see him alright! If he was smaller they could roll him around like a football or sth. I sometimes think it is a lil miracle he's not doing fast laps with Senna and Lauda already. I can only hope for the best - but each time I see him he's even fatter not fitter. :-O
spanners87@reddit
Eating all those vegetables and shit will take it’s tole. Indigestible and unintended ‘food’ plays fuck with humans. Fatty meats we are supposed to eat, nothing else. Carbs kills and causes cancer. Meat, salt and water. Everything else is poison, cry otherwise all you want.
Sweaty-Button3416@reddit
Everyone needs to not eat for 16 hrs in a row... every day...but we're too mentally weak to do it.
luna1144@reddit
He's just evolved
WeDoingThisAgainRWe@reddit
In shots from the farm when he wasn’t wearing big coats you could see it then. Farming for someone him has been a hybrid active/sedentary life. Yes he’s getting tired out and doing manual stuff. Working long hours in wearing conditions. But he’s not doing the levels of manual stuff someone like Kaleb is doing. And a lot (probably most) of his time on the farm is spent sitting in machinery or sitting filling out paperwork. It’s probably not that different to his driving job. Long days in tiring conditions (46 degree heat ffs) but still most of it is spent sitting down.
And at his age losing that excess weight is much harder.
NobleArrgon@reddit
Tbf. It's probably more to do with his alcohol intake than being old. Losing weight is 99% diet. You could be the most active person, but if you're downing multiple beer a daily. It's going to be a huge hit as alcohol also fucks liver function.
OverlordQ@reddit
That's more than just beer belly, that's advanced liver disease belly
WeDoingThisAgainRWe@reddit
I don’t disagree about lifestyle but try losing that level of weight he’s carrying at his age - it’s not easy and he’s not the kind to start worrying about or working on it. So yeah both aren’t on his side here and I doubt he’s that bothered.
NobleArrgon@reddit
He's only 63. My parents are in their 60s, too, and simply shifting to a healthier dirt actually helps a lot.
Even doing your 10k steps or equivalent is better than nothing if you're living a sedentary lifestyle.
My uncle, has also lost 12kgs recently just by a shift in diet and going for 45min walks everyday.
Age is actually just a number here.
Jeremy's issue is he's simply not bothered, lol.
A lot of people in the actual boomer generation have a very bad understanding of health and diet.
WeDoingThisAgainRWe@reddit
I’m 10 years younger than him and lost a shit load of weight last year but I’m definitely not going to say it was as easy then as it would have been 20 years before. But I also don’t disagree with what you’re saying. In cases like his there’s a whole host of things and wanting to is probably way up there.
SirLostit@reddit
Eating less and moving more will always help to lose weight, but you are right, the older you get the harder it is to shift the weight.
LunnyBear@reddit
Probably a case of going on walks and cutting out beer and that gut would shrink quicker than you'd think
Precarious314159@reddit
Yea, there's a difference between being fat and having a beer gut. If you cover his stomach, he looks pretty fit.
PRSArchon@reddit
There is no difference. Where your body stores fat is genetically determined and he just happens to store it all in his belly.
0mega2022@reddit
Agree, I'm down 12 lbs from not drinking with my meals, no change any where else in my diet..
Philly_is_nice@reddit
Liquid carbs my friend 😂. Good job cutting them out. Trying to lose a few pounds myself with so far less success.
NobleArrgon@reddit
Yup. It's called beer belly for a reason.
lt12765@reddit
He has a similar build to most old farmers I’ve seen in eastern Canada. Beer gut. He was getting that way before the farm though, even in TG still.
Marauder_Pilot@reddit
Yeah I was gonna say, my mom's side of the family are all farmers around Southwestern Ontario and if I didn't know who he was I'd say he'd blend into that crowd perfectly.
GenericNinjaFight@reddit
It’s a beer gut n half. I recently cut out Friday and Sunday drinking. Noticing a huge difference just having a few beers on Saturdays.
gfinz18@reddit
I’ll have to try this. I’ve been trying to lose weight but can’t seem to do it so it must be the alcohol
Sea_End_1893@reddit
The Mongolia Special helped me cut down drinking. I was a 1.75 liter every two days drinker, combat veteran and a widower and all that jazz just made me put in 80-90 hours a week at work and drink my face off.
If Clarkson, Hammond and May can last five days in the Mongolian wilderness without drinking alcohol and not die, then I can clearly cut down to just drinking on weekends.
I did the math once and a 1.75 bottle of vodka has around 4000 calories, drinking one of those every two days was already my 2000/kcal per day PLUS whatever food I ate. And vodka is known as the skinny girl of alcohols.
Wormholer_No9416@reddit
Dtinking Ale will do that to you
N3V1N5G4M1NG@reddit
Well he identifies as an orangutan so its normal i guess
uristmcderp@reddit
Clarkson doesn't actually look that fat overall. His legs are twigs and he has no ass. He just puts in absolutely no effort to suck in his gut, and gravity+time made it sag.
opuFIN@reddit
More like all of his fat is centered in his gut. It's common that men accrue fat predominantly in their guts while women accrue it more evenly in their arms, legs, buttocks etc. Jezza has simply taken the male form to the extreme
MysteriousHousing489@reddit
Peak male body
2024meanswar@reddit
He has looked worse. I was more surprised at him acknowledging climate change.
Kovechkin@reddit
He’s allowed. You live once. If you can’t enjoy your life at that age what was the point. If I were Clarkson right now I’d be drunk everyday by noon and eating whatever I want, when I want.
formation@reddit
I'd rather live my last years healthy so, no fuck feeling like shit from bad hangovers every day, not being able to walk properly and the constant gut problems would make life not worth living.
Kovechkin@reddit
Just drinkin some water between ribeyes then
formation@reddit
Moderation is fine, unless you can't moderate
Dazzling-Tough6798@reddit
This sort of glorification is why the U.K. has a massive obesity crisis.
thunder083@reddit
Britain has an obesity problem because the weather is shit, food quality is shit unless you pay a premium in independent stores and the work life balance in this country is fucked.
BewareTheMoonLads@reddit
If you think food quality is shit you need to stop doing your weekly shop at Iceland
thunder083@reddit
Food quality is. Go abroad have fruit and veg then come back and have it here, it’s shit. Not to mention nutritionally less.
torquelesswonder@reddit
UK obesity crisis? stares in american 🤣
screamtrumpet@reddit
I have no intention of leaving behind a healthy corpse.
screamtrumpet@reddit
Wow. Someone actually downvoted me on MY decision of MY corpse. At least I was able to offend someone!
Kovechkin@reddit
Amen
Claus1990@reddit
Can’t really be drunk all the time when you got a farm to take care of.
JohnathanRalphio@reddit
He doesn’t really take care of the farm
RnBrie@reddit
Love how this is down voted when he's more the face/management of the farm than anything else
Gr1msh33per@reddit
I know a farmer was was.
Now ex farmer.
ruppy99@reddit
I’m sure he’d like to be alive to see his grand kids grow up
Convillious@reddit
How do I avoid this when I’m older. I’m skinny and 20 years old now and I really don’t wanna get obese when I’m in my 40s and older
ra1kk@reddit
Don’t drink too much alcohol, eat healthy and keep moving. It’s really not that hard.
Setekh79@reddit
Thing is though, if he does 'quit and slow down' he'll be making that problem worse.
adamfrom1980s@reddit
He’s not fat, he’s just long term pregnant with quintuplets.
lurkeranswering@reddit
I feel like OP has never met an old farmer. That's the exact build 99% of older farmers in Canada have.
Source: Working for, with, around, under and on top of many.

Farmers only 😏
ninjafiedzombie@reddit
OnlyFarms
Palmerstroll@reddit
He will not get old if he continue like this. HE will get heart problems in less than 5 years for sure.
torquelesswonder@reddit
Yup. That’s correct.
torquelesswonder@reddit
Health and fitness requires manual labor…it’s just catching him hard now. FAFO 🤷♂️😢
Fintwo@reddit
I thought he was supposed to be taking wegovy or whatever that injection is that suppresses appetite- he wrote an article about it?
SoyMurcielago@reddit
Women get badonkadonks jezza got a stomachadonk
Smashy680@reddit
His poor gf must feel like shes riding a camel with that belly hump
simpin_aint_e_z@reddit
I keep forgetting he’s still in his early 60s and not his mid to late 70s. He’s aged so much in the last 4 years
Guh_Meh@reddit
He looks like he is pregnant with two fully grown twins.
tehcoma@reddit
It’s a classic beer gut.
He has always been unhealthy but he’s running it to the max lately, I guess
ScaredValuable5870@reddit
It is not fair to pick on expectant Mum's - especially when it's a Beer baby.
I hear you though. Just watched it, and Jezza could start selling shade when he retires. Time is cruel to us all in some way, shape or form.
ricco19@reddit
If you wanna be fat, then be fat, but don't blame time for it lol.
hustinio@reddit
He is an inspiration to all of us who enjoy good drink, good food and are allergic to manual labor.
_TheShapeOfColor_@reddit
Amen.
RocasThePenguin@reddit
Shit. Who cares? I’d be one happy man if I was in my 60s, rich and fat, having done and seen things present me can only imagine. Being able to afford the best food and the best drink. What a life.
Super_Plastic5069@reddit
I thought he stuffed a pumpkin up his top
