Why would my brakes squeal after the pads were replaced?

We had our front brake pads replaced and now there's a squeal when you slow to a stop. Does anyone know what could be causing that?
Butt_bird@reddit
Did you replace or resurface the rotors? If not that’s probably why.
grafton24@reddit (OP)
Yes, they redid the rotors too.
Butt_bird@reddit
Either they used cheap brake pads or they did a poor job of resurfacing the rotors. I would take it back, brand new brakes should not be making noise.

You don't know what you're talking about. Don't give advice when you have no clue. New brakes often squeak as they bed in.
Butt_bird@reddit
What makes you qualified to give advice on the internet? I have 25 years of experience on both hydraulic and air brakes.
LydsMarie333@reddit
I work at an auto repair shop and there are many factors that can cause new brake pads to squeak that don’t necessarily involve the brake pads themselves, please don’t jump to conclusions, diagnosing cars is similar to diagnosing an illness, it’s more complex than you say.
Butt_bird@reddit
Which is why I said to take it BACK to the shop. Other people were saying it’s part of the bedding process, which is essentially ignoring the problem.
By the way this thread is over a year old.
yensid87@reddit
No, you don’t lol
Dusta1992@reddit
Lol please don't encourage him lie to the point of uploading his fake certificates.

Thanks.

Damn, I’m having the same issue as well. Got my brakes changed out about five months ago. I understand it needs bedding in. But now it’s just an obnoxious loud squeak as if I’m out of brake material. Usually, I do it myself, but this time around I got it done at my local mechanic. When I noticed the squeaking wasn’t stopping I went back but they shut down. I had another Mechanic check it out. He says nothing seems to be wrong. I have enough material. But as soon as I wash my rims within two days, it’s full of brake dust, and the squeaking starts again.😭
Key-Dragonfly4800@reddit
I have the same issue I was told it’s the break calipers they need replaced I just got my breaks. Changed now there’s a loud squeal noise when I break
EntertainmentOk2035@reddit
Same. Had an issue with the rear caliper squealing. Changed my pads, rotors, caliper and still doing the same thing on the same side. Not sure why
Any-Thought301@reddit
Change the brake hose
EntertainmentOk2035@reddit
It’s brand new
Heavy_Gap_5047@reddit
They likely need to be bedded in, make some hard stops.
DewdropDrifter@reddit
Making “hard stops”, braking harshly will cause newly fitted brakes to squeak, your supposed to bed them slowly, soft braking for the first 200 miles
grafton24@reddit (OP)
Thanks.
AnimalKing613@reddit
I’m getting the same issue

It could be cheap brake pads, the pads might need to be broken-in, or the tech could have forgot to add lube to the slides and now the brakes are not disengaging fully when you let go of the pedal, causing vibration.
grafton24@reddit (OP)
It's only the last little bit of the stop that makes the noise. Rotors look good, so I assume I need to break them in or lube was forgotten. I'll try breaking them in today and see if that helps. thanks.
Alt4Norm@reddit
What was the result?
lilbubs200@reddit
Can’t fucking stand people who make these posts and don’t even bother to reply the solution.
aaronshattuck@reddit
They did. He said they forgot the lube.
Alt4Norm@reddit
Not everyone can be as helpful as you & I.
I’ll allow it slightly as it was old when I asked. But you’d think they would have replied to me.
rm_0425@reddit
idk if you guys read the other threads here, but he did respond on one saying, “They didn’t install them properly. Left off the lube”
underworld-vamp@reddit
Don't wipe, assert your dominance 😂
al3x502@reddit
Did they explain what it was when you went back? It might be the solution to my problems.
Remote-Nebula-2746@reddit
Update?
Pepsimaxgodtier@reddit
Did you get sorted?
grafton24@reddit (OP)
Yeah, they did it wrong. Brought it back and they fixed it.
Plasticzakjes@reddit
Have a similar issue. What did they do wrong?
grafton24@reddit (OP)
They didn't install them properly. Left off the lube
Talentless_Cooking@reddit
Either the screamers were installed wrong or you drive a dodge.
Azrael-777@reddit
What a lot of people don’t know is the EPA is not allowing copper in brake pads anymore. Without the copper the brakes squeal a lot more often now. It’s fun trying to explain that to a customer at the dealership that just had brakes put on a month ago. They do have a copper paste that you can put on the outside of the brake pad. I have had luck with that.
Andrewoholic@reddit
No copper grease used
grafton24@reddit (OP)
Thanks
SuperSathanas@reddit
What kind of friction material? Did the rotors get replaced or resurfaced? Is everything lubed up? Have the bedded them in?
grafton24@reddit (OP)
I'll bed them in now that I know what that means. :) If that doesn't do it then I'll take it back. Thanks.
RoboErectus@reddit
Did you not lube them?
There's a little packet of lube usually included in new pads. Smear it on the back of the pad and the clips. (Not the friction surfaces!)
Squealing is the retaining clips vibrating.
If you paid someone to do this, they didn't do it correctly. Take it back and they should fix it no charge.
grafton24@reddit (OP)
Thanks. I had them done so I'll take it back.
