My battery keeps discharging, how can I tell whats wrong?

My battery is about \~2.5yr old, it was replaced at that time by AAA. I've driven it a lot less during this time due to Covid etc. Now my battery keeps discharging.
The AAA mechanic told me I need to drive every 2-3 days for 30min, is that correct? If I don't drive for 4-5 days the battery will drop and not start the car.
Do car batteries work like smartphones, i.e. they will need to recharge to a certain level and then discharge when idle? I drove for 1hr and thought that would build up enough for the next few weeks but it wasn't the case.
I purchased a 12v jump starter and it has helped but not all the time. I don't think my battery has seen enough use to be so degraded. How can I tell what its actual health is, and is it time to get a new one?
