1. As long as the walls and doors are thick enough, it doesn’t need to be underground. 2. Correct. These should really have a decontamination room. But, they are fairly large, so if you’re stocked up enough, maybe you won’t need to leave, for months, perhaps years. In that case, a decontamination room wouldn’t be necessary. 3. Be nice to use your cell phone and electronics inside prior to the apocalypse. With how prepared many of these people are, who’s to say they don’t already have a sat phone? 4. I’m sure plenty of these bunkers have security cameras, and if they don’t, that an easy addition. And with EMPs, those cameras won’t work anyways. Should have backup cameras and wiring to replace them after the blast. 5. How do you know there aren’t any medical facilities? I’d imagine there is at least one. As a matter of fact, I believe I saw a different video on this place, and some of the residents are doctors, or at least were prior to retirement. I’d imagine a number of the residents have a cabinet full of supplies until it’s safe to go outside. You can stock up on antibiotics, iodine tablets, and over the counter medical supplies. 6. Again, one of these very well could already be set up as a greenhouse, with grow lights. The thing is, even the largest building, they’re not big enough to be a home, medical facility, and a greenhouse, all in one. They’ll need to have community buildings that they can use once they’ve waited it out to where the radiation levels are safe for short term exposure. Hypothetically, shouldn’t be longer than a few weeks to a month, unless you’re at ground zero. All of that being said, I partially agree. I’d much rather have my bunker completely underground, with a 90 degree entrance, and a decontamination room. That way after the blast, I can safely exit the building and make repairs to things such as solar panels and wiring, and change and wash up prior to entering. But, these are a whole lot better than what 99% of the US population has going for them. In the vast majority of cases, a finished basement ain’t gonna cut it, even if you pop those iodine tablets and have a gas mask. I’m about to pull the trigger on a 10x20 from Atlas. I’m real close. Comes with the basics. NBC air filtration, 300 gallon water storage (and a hook up to a 2,500 gallon tank buried underground, which I am responsible for), septic hookup for the toilet, shower, and sink, blast valves, sealed steel armor door, escape hatch, solar panels and battery bank, etc. All of the basics, which is fine for me, because I’m 68 miles away from the nearest military base and 77 miles away from the nearest population center. Only way a missile will be anywhere near me is if it doesn’t hit its intended target. I have 141 acres of timber land, and I’m prepared for anything else (except for solar flares), but my house doesn’t even have a basement, so I’d be in trouble unless I buy or build a shelter.
