What's a UK life hack that's so obvious you're almost embarrassed to share it?

When you're driving away from a motorway service station, don't eat or drink anything until you're properly back driving on the motorway. My mum would always say this. As I got older, I of course did whatever I wanted, but I then realised I'd keep spilling and dropping stuff if I didn't wait until I was back on the motorway. It's so embarrassingly obvious, but it took me a long time to figure out. If you'd like the opportunity to share something almost everyone - but not everyone - actually knows, here's your chance.
