Why did you take driving lessons after the age of 35?

My husband passed his test almost a year ago at the age of 47. He had driving lessons when he was younger, failed his test then went off to uni before he could get another test date and just never returned to driving. He was so nervous about it and kept putting it off, but a decline in my health spurred him on. He did 8 months of lessons and passed his test on the first try this time. He loves driving! It's great being chauffeured around now, and it has really increased his confidence in other things too, he's started volunteering and going for days out by himself. Plenty of practice is the key; if you have a partner or friend or family member who lives near you ask if they can sit with you while you drive. Remember that learning isn't a straight line, it's a bumpy line and you will have good lessons and bad lessons so don't let one bad lesson put you off. Good luck!
