Recording training when leaving a current job?

Hi all! I’ve recently handed in my notice at my current employers and have been given the task of handing over clients to various people, as well as recording training and these handover calls when the occur. I have 7.5 working days left I’m not sure on the legality of this as I’ve not given any consent for this, and they will clearly be using them after I’ve left the company. Do I have to give consent or can they basically go “you’re still employed with us, record the videos”? I’ve never appeared on official recorded internal training like this for the company before, if that makes a difference, so I’ve never given my consent to being recorded. I just feel a bit funny about my image being used in an official capacity when I’m no longer at the company, they have someone new joining a week after I leave and they’ve said they will basically be using me to record training videos for him (training is actually part of my role, but clearly I won’t be here at that point!) I’m sure some comments may be to just grin and bear it and to continue being professional, I think just the way I’ve been treated since handing in my notice has really irked me and things I’d have been happy to do 2 weeks ago I am less so keen to do now

As a programmer who has seen many companies develop a sudden desire to uphold documentation rules: remember you can only document so much. Just remember you have some power here: if you say no and come back with a reasonable and comfortable method of documentation... then, what are they going to do? Not do it?

That’s so true, I hope I’m not being too unreasonable and have already written a pretty long document for them which as others have said is probably going to be more beneficial. I don’t think they have much recourse considering one of the people I’m supposed to train isn’t even employed at the company yet!

They probably don't really want you on camera. Screencast and slides with voice over will probably be more useful anyway. It feels like you are being a little difficult about it to be honest (although based on a few lines of Reddit post, so what do I know?). Just keep your face off camera and talk over 3 shit bullet points slides if it makes you more comfortable. Bonus points if you hide a cock and balls somewhere on the slide

If delivering training is in your current job description then you kinda have to do it. Do you really need to be on camera? Could you PowerPoint the content and then do a voice over presentation that is recorded?

Yeah you’re probably right, I think it’s more the video aspect that I’m a bit hesitant over and I have asked about that but I’ve not heard back yet (they’ve been very slow at replying to anything since handing in my notice lol) I’m more than happy to help with any written documents and if they really require me to speak about it then I can, but I know (and they know!) what my verbal presentation skills are like, which to put bluntly are “not good” if it’s only me talking 😂

Personally, I would say that video/audio format is awful for training if you're not used to it. A step-by-step text guide is much easier to go back to and look at the specific step(s) you need, rather than rewatching a video/listening to audio where there's a lot of "Umm"s and "Err"s, lots of silence, and waiting for things to load or whatever. And having your face there would add absolutely nothing to the training, whether it's a video or not.

This is my thinking - I’ve already written a document with bullet points that I can beef out, I’ve never done any formal video training (I’ve been in conversational calls with people) and there will 100% be some umms 😂 It just seems like a bizarre requirement to me and the poor soul who will come in after having to scrub through to find the bits he wants every time
