Are your high street shops well stocked?

I've been trying to make an effort to buy from bricks & mortar shops (use it or lose it, right) after getting into a super lazy habit of online ordering everything during The Event.
But over the last ~18 months I've noticed that my local high street, and even the city centre stores are increasingly badly stocked. Often I can't get even pretty basic stuff & shelves are empty. I'm not talking about needing some specialist item or particular brand - to give the most recent example, I needed dental floss. I went to both the local mid-sized Boots and Superdrug yesterday morning and the shelves were empty in Boots, and in Superdrug there was only *one* kind of floss available (actually not floss, but tape).
This sort of thing has happened for generic purchases in all sorts of main brand high street stores, everything from glue to vitamin D tablets. Just a local phenomenon, or more widespread issue?
