Who Remembers These?
Remember, as a kid, when going to McDonalds felt magical? Like being able to get a shamrock shake made you feel like you were part of some secret society.

I find these occasionally at thrift stores and antique stores and always pick them up if they aren’t too over the top on pricing.

According to [this article](https://people.com/what-is-grimace-mcdonalds-purple-character-is-a-taste-bud-6082080), Grimace is either "the embodiment of a milkshake" or a giant taste bud, depending on who you ask.

It was Garfield coffee cups for me! I wish I still had them.

I’m sure someone else will chime in with the link, but the Garfield glasses are notorious for containing insanely dangerous levels of lead. Most of the glasses from this period are the same way. Good for display but REALLY shouldn’t be used.

I remember them fading after dozens of trips through the dishwasher and schoolyard speculation about whether the design on them used lead paint.

I remember them and that they were a weirdly big deal.

Yes, when the only one was in the town with the Zellers (big department store), and the McDonald's was the mansard roof style. Going there the 2-3 times a year we could was special. Now that they are the grey box style buildings in smaller towns, and that Zellers is gone, it no longer is that special anymore.

Dear lord, that’s rat-face Hamburglar. One more reason why our generation is so tough and hardened.

Ikr. When my kids were little I was shocked at how kid friendly they made him. My kids thought it was funny I used to be afraid of him when I was little. They stopped laughing after I showed them a picture.

I still have Grimace in the back of my cabinet! Ronald always bothered me because the line on his hands is drawn by the pinky, not as the fat pad by the thumb
