Holy shit. Remembering some recent deals:
$230 compete upper with optic. No way I'd trust my life to it, but it'd be a fun, light plinker and it'd be super light. I agree with OP that it being paired with a KP-15 would be incredibly light.

Just popping in for a status update, using this barrel and a similar extra cheap build I'd gone through 3000 rounds before my first failure (to extract) and it was honnestly my fault because I rarely cleaned it. I was shooting it decently aggressively as well and it held up fine

Np, I actually just dug out my KP15 lower and threw it on there for fun, it's decently light but the faxon pencil blows it out of the water, it's stupidly light and this barrel still has some heft.

ARs are pretty forgiving as far as quality goes. Durability? Probably not so much, but the barrel is decent, I've got 2 or 3 of them. With a toolcraft BCG it Wil probably run just fine. May not be a gun you can run 10k rounds through without a failure, but just fine for what 99% of people need it to do.

Spend a few dollars more and at least get a PSA or Anderson upper receiver. The BCM blem uppers are $50

I think everyone would. These for special run and they never made into those special builds, so they're dumped on close out for me to try and find a use for them.
This kits just sucks because you still need to buy a Delta Ring Assembly (from them is their plan, padding that profit back....) to make it work with this hand guard.
Notice the price increase when they put a complete upper assembly on it. Not just a sum of this Parts Price plus the other parts prices equal the total. It's padded a bit higher.
Maybe a price anchor scheme to make this barrel combo look like a deal, or maybe they pay someone to turn a barrel wrench $100 an hour and that what it divides out to on the assembled versions....

These have been around and cheap for awhile. I think they’re all that is left of the most recent Bushmaster (Freedom Group) liquidation. I want to dick punch whoever decided to mill off all of the front sights. In their current configuration they are not well suited for much of anything.

These have been around for about 3 years. I got an A2 post M4 cut barrel from them for $99 around May 2020.
Eh, you can grind off the bayonet lug and sling swivel and they’ll fit under most rails. They’d be decent for a light weight build. But these would look REALLY good as an old school build with a front post.
Does anyone out there install front sight posts on pre-drilled barrels?

I agree with you 100%, but with the time involved in grinding the gas block, I'd lean toward spending another few bucks, and buy a ballistic advantage barrel from Bkings.

True enough, but then you have to refinish to prevent rust, bang out taper pins to remove the cap and replace the barrel nut for a decent hand guard. The juice just isn’t worth the squeeze for a barrel like this, IMO. But by all means, buy and build out a bunch, because God Bless America

You've got 2 avenues.
FSB with set screws or...
Weld up taper pin holes, drill, and re-ream. It's $$$
You can't realistically drill and ream a new FSB to an old barrel because it's an operation that uniquely mates the two together. Especially so on a .625 journal. The pins will be closer to the bore, so you can't drill damn close (with a tad of luck) and then ream out larger for deeper setting of a 2/0 taper pin or maybe jumping up to a 3/0.

CDNN without a doubt bought a Remington parts warehouses from the bankruptcy. They have been liquidating it for awhile now... They have had 870 barrels on eBay for as low as $72. They also had a ton of left handed barrels for various freedom group brands listed to. I know where a mountain of these BFI barrels are used and I am scared to sale them for $40-$50 shipped because who knows what is up with them.

I have to agree that the handguard and gas block on this are pretty much worthless, there is nothing that really makes this any better than a $80 house brand barrel (nbs, dirty bird, whatever) from ar15discounts or a basic ballistic advantage, etc.

They are the perfect barrel for a super budget build where quality is of no concern and you just need a working rifle. I think I bought one a while ago for just under $50. At that price it's a perfect barrel for a dirt cheap loner/beater. Waiting for deals, used parts, and blems I was able to put together a full rifle for just over $300.

I have one of these barrels that came without a gas block. I had a fsp drilled and used it for a retro carbine. It's actually a decently accurate barrel. Between 2-3 moa with 62 grain fmj on a non-freefloat setup.

That's what I found too. Mine came with the gas block so I just shoved a b5 handguard on it as a cheap handguard. With PMC M855 I've been able to get 2-2.5 MOA groups all day everyday. Is it a tack driver? No. Is it dirt cheap and will get the job done? Yes.

I think this actually might be post Freedom Group liquidation. Prior to being acquired by Franklin, all of Bushmasters barrels were chrome-lined. These are nitrided.
