How do we feel about the newer Lincoln’s ambient lighting?

Strip club vibes
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Damn wonder what you’d think of some of the Mercedes options then? They just straight up have exposed led strips everywhere lol.
Ran4@reddit
Same thing. Mercedes isn't something classy people but anymore.
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Really?? What do classy people buy nowadays?
Imaginary_Act_3956@reddit
Dacia Sanderos.

Buick LeSabres
Plenty-Industries@reddit
Strip club vibes too.
Every new car i've driven that has this ambient lighting, just screams tasteless.
Whats worse are the ones where such lighting does not turn off a few seconds after you close the door.
When my mom bought her JCW Mini Cooper S (i think it was a 2018), we had to make the dealership turn it all off because it was incredibly distracting while driving at night with the gigantic LED ring in the center of the dash.
Most of them are way too bright even at their dimmest setting (if you can even change it) to have them on while night driving too.
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Atleast with Lincoln you can dim it or even turn it off. For those who are not fans
Darth_Andeddeu@reddit
If I just keep it turned off then it's an option I don't need.
Plenty-Industries@reddit
That means i'd have to buy a Lincoln.... ew.
bkmkc@reddit
Yes, tacky indeed 😂
lotto2222@reddit
Lol
AnusStapler@reddit
Is there color options? Blue is wayyy to distracting for ambient lighting.
rothordwarf@reddit
My mustang can change the interior color.
I would be shocked if you couldn't on the lincolns.
Datfiyah@reddit
I thought it was eventually going to become standard for all the luxury/high end brands, but it’s starting to appear probably not.
I’m still waiting for Volvo, Acura and Infiniti to FULLY implement it across their models like BMW/MB has.
o0260o@reddit
Red is better for retaining night vision
Anonymous_Hazard@reddit
Orange is best
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Yeah like 10 options and you can set the brightness from completely off to this.
Edgar-Allan-Pho@reddit
Blue is the perfect color for night driving. That's why phones and computers have blue tint when on night mode
AnusStapler@reddit
Have no blue tint you mean. I have set my car to orange, reddish tints don't mess up your night sight.
StreetSharkWarrior@reddit
What does the second row look like?
aquatone61@reddit
I like it. I love the Lincoln Continental, fabulous ride and the coldest A/C I’ve ever experienced in a car, period.
Traquer@reddit
Looks awesome. The more lights a car has the more options it has too, regarding the color and the intensity, so you can set it to suit your taste
I_heart_your_Momma@reddit
People still buy Lincoln ?
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
They sell about 90,000 a year. Which isn’t horrible considering they only have 4 models (3 of which range from 60k-150,000) and only SUVs. No sedan options.
I_heart_your_Momma@reddit
Around here new Lincoln’s are very rare so that’s why yo was curious about that. Thanks for the info, and that interior looks sweet though
czarfalcon@reddit
I wouldn’t, but that’s more because I’m not in the market for an SUV than anything else. I think they actually look really nice, I have a coworker with an Aviator who absolutely loves it.
CaptainDonald@reddit
We need to go back to red or amber ambient light. They used to do that because it minimally affected your peripheral vision and doesn’t fatigue your eyes at night. Blue is scientifically the worst color they can use for night time ambient lighting.
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Red and amber are both options
CaptainDonald@reddit
Switch to one of them then. You’ll have a much less fatiguing experience driving at night
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Oh I personally definitely prefer blue. Doesn’t cause me a single bit of fatigue at all
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Getting downvoted on a personal preference of color is so prime Reddit. Lmfaoooo
ROMMELBOT@reddit
Looks disposable. Like the truck.
buttlord5000@reddit
Ford vehicles have had this feature for over 15 years, it's exactly as "huh, cool" as it ever has been.

Lincoln Lighting by Eiffel 65
oscik@reddit
Ambient lighting makes a car looking like Razer gaming accessory. I fucking hate it.
Spez_Spaz@reddit
Im fine with it since it can be turned off.
iluv80spop@reddit
Cringiest ambient ever
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
How can lightning be cringy? Lmao.
iluv80spop@reddit
Trying too hard and failing?
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Interesting view. Lincoln said they wanted to offer a soft glow that can be dimmed to completely off all the way to filling the cabin with your color of choice. Explain where they failed.
czarfalcon@reddit
I’m personally not a fan of that much ambient lighting (in fact, I could easily live without any ambient lighting at all), but I’d reserve judgment until I could see it in person. It looks very harsh in the picture, but assuming you can dim it a little I imagine it looks better in person
RayTrain@reddit
The thing with judging this stuff online is that it always looks way brighter in the picture than IRL. I have blue ambient interior lighting in my car along the doors, dash, footwell, etc. and in hardly illuminates the interior at all. I love it. Doesn't make a difference with night vision because it isn't bright enough to do anything.
TheBoomClap@reddit
It’s giving 2010 ambient lighting. Look up an EQS night drive. The thing is a beauty, best interior for night drives by far.
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
The EQS is like a spaceship! Definitely amazing. I think Lincoln is going for something different. It’s advertised as a “soft glow” that you dim or brighten. Where as Mercedes is going for a vibrant electric energy vibe.
lilez02@reddit
I turn down every dash light to low as possible and hate interior lighting so much. Just let me have just the speedometer light up at night if I want and choose. I feel like it’s odd to want the inside of your car to be dark at night now. Smh. More distractions when half the people driving can’t tell you how to operate the headlights on their own vehicle or even if they are on or when.

MemerDude34@reddit
Ehh. It’s not bad in moderation but this is overkill
TrafficOnTheTwos@reddit
I love it!
Bamfor07@reddit
It isn’t really “ambient” if it’s too much.
mattehohoh@reddit
Makes it hard to find a vein
slimcargos@reddit
Ambient lighting is real nice, really does set the mood during a night drive. Theres def such a thing as too much though, personally I like how Audi does it.
auximines_minotaur@reddit
I rented a car like this and I did. Not. Get it. Why??? So distracting, makes it harder to drive. I don’t get the point. Who wants this?
xSTLxCody@reddit (OP)
Seems as if almost every single car in the luxury market is doing this so I’m assuming this is wanted by a lot of people. You can always dim it or even turn off if you wanted I guess
tuckermans@reddit
Mercedes did it better.
