Are the black taxi cab drivers in London still very upset about car sharing services like Uber?

Whilst obviously there were a lot of good Black Cab drivers I feel sorry for, as a group they brought this on themselves. There was a toxic culture where the majority considered they were the “Professional drivers of London” (due partially to the certification of The Knowledge, partially a narrative promoted during training and, oddly, an association with old London trades and freemasonry) This led to a lot of poor driving behaviour, irritating a lot of Londoners (almost every London cyclist in the early 2000s will have a bad story about a black cab cutting them up dangerously) so those people (who ironically also would take cabs when on a bike) largely jumped on the alternative cabs (uber Etc) when they tuned up. It’s a good example of making sure you remain customer focused even if you are a monopoly. (I never confirmed this, but there was also an odd situation I believe where driver licences were limited and owners could pass them off for money, hence these became part of a cabbie’s pension plan as such, hence the loss in value once the monopoly ended was particularly harsh/more resentment). Again. Not all cabbies were like this, but I certainly stopped using them years ago due to a poor experience in and out of the cab.
