Watching Xena and Hercules for the first time, is there an order so the cross-overs match?

Hi!
I've heard Hercules makes appearances in Xena and would like to know if there's an order to watch both series or if both can be watched separately and make sense.
Only seen a few episodes ages and ages ago on tv so my memory is super spotty of what happens.

There are multiple points where characters cross over. Xena is introduced on Herc, Callisto is on both shows, some of the god storylines bounce back and forth. This is the order I watch in to keep crossover characters and story lines intact. I have young hercules on the list where it'll fall after the flashbacks on Hercules, if you are planing on watching that too. There are a lot of continuity errors in this franchise, some of the biggest are young hercules contradicting the other shows. It's still worth watching though imo, and some characters introduced in young return in herc.

I don't see how anybody can stand to do this. I tried it once with the marvel series and it juat got way to frustrating constantly bouncing back and forth between shows.
Dont take this as an insult. I'm just saying if thats how you guys are willing to watch a show it's awesome and I can see why you would want to. I'm just saying it's a massive pita imo. Especially when you have to watch a specific numver of episodes from a season then stop, switch shows for a set number of episodes then switch again.
What would be sweet is if there was a box set you could get that just had the shows combined with the episodes falling where they belong in the storyline.

There is probably a certain amount of undiagnosed neurodivergent compulsion involved in my completionist correct viewing orders.
My list for Doctor who from 1963 to current day including all the spinoffs and minisodes would probably make you physically ill. Star trek, Stargate, Buffy... Xena is one of the less complicated ones.

Probably not actually. I would live to be able to do this because I am the same way about continuity and obsessing over all the story beats. I just don't have the patience to pull it off.

I have decided to rewatch the whole Hercules and Xena series because I used to watch as a kid but I never got to see all of them properly. You know back in the day you either caught it or you missed it but with technology today I figured now I can get to see everything. I have been following your list and you are right on point so far thank you so much for this.

Enjoy your rewatch. I think I'm about due for one myself. This post is about 7 years old, so I'm guessing that was right about when my last watch through was.

For Young Hercules Pilot, do you mean that movie that had a different actor playing hercules (Dean O'Gorman I think) than Ryan Gosling from the series?

I couldn't tell you who the actor was, but yeah it was a different actor in the pilot.
