I have no idea where this idea comes from. Has he ever come close to even flirting with being interested in running or being elected to any office? He is such a gifted and analytical orator and teacher for a mass audience.
Why do people want to strip him from that duty and assign him a gig where he has to do so much unseen work making deals with either self-important naive assholes or straight up morons? His voice is extremely valuable. It’s his biggest asset. But that’s like at most a third of politicians job. It’s nearly all of a perform/writers job.

I'm wishing that his return to the Daily Show is part of a long running plan to get him back in front of the public eye and eventually elected into something.
She'd be 35 before Jan 20, 2025 according to her birthdate on Wikipedia.
So she'd be old enough.
You don't have to be 35 when you run, you have to be 35 when you're sworn in.

I don't know whether you're hating on things like her success or thinking she's an industry plant for coming from anything above upper-middle-class while presenting herself as relatable to teenagers or anything like that but none of that and nothing at all even outside of a sci-fi movie could make someone lose their real-person-ness without dying to become a corporation and/or mascot
Yeah, cept he sucked at being President so much he lost his second term, which more or less never happens so you have to be really bad. Even George W. Bush won a second term!
Herbert Hoover either Lost or Didn't Run, back in '32. That Great Depression thing pretty much cooked HIS Goose.
Jimmy Carter just Barely beat Gerald Ford-back in 1976. This Despite Eight Years of Nixon/Agnew then Ford as the VP. The Nixon Pardon (which was Courageous, and got us back on track during Stagflation) Doomed Ford.
...and, speaking of Incumbents who Lost...Reagan beat Carter Handily, in 1980. There had been More Inflation from 1977-1980, and the Iran Hostage Crisis, followed by the bungled rescue attempt, Ended THAT Presidency. Prime Interest Rates, meant to curb said Inflation, were Raised Dramatically. That meant that only Tax Free Municipal Bonds, or Treasury Bills, were safe investments.
George H.W. Bush (Bush I) got in on a Wave of Reaganomics. Inflation had been tamed, and Unemployment was Low. We had a Huge National Debt, However, from taxes being Too Low, while Defense spending was Too High. The Lion's Share of Union jobs vanished. and GOP politicians were unwilling to even set aside funds for retraining. The Poor, the Homeless, the Mentally Ill...they ALL suffered for Twelve years. Burger Flipper is NOT a high-paying job. Crack Dealer IS: so we had skyrocketing Violent Crime, and they built a Bunch of New Prisons.
Bill Clinton (Finally) got the Republicans out of office. There was a Moderate Recession in place, the Public likes a pretty face, and Ross Perot hurt Bush, by running Third Party. His VEEP, Al Gore ran, but was Defeated thanks to the Electoral College, and Ralph Nader-another Third Party Candidate.
Bush II got two terms, Chiefly because of 9/11. Folks don't want to change Commanders in midstream. The Election was somewhat close, however, because of Iraqi Freedom.
We then had two terms of Obama. HE was elected because of the Outrageous Housing Crisis. He was narrowly RE-elected, Ironically, because he whacked Bin Laden.
Hillary Clinton beat Trump by two million votes (this despite the Russians colluding to steal THAT Election. Talk about Irony.) BUT...for the Second time in recent memory, The Electoral College prevailed, and put The Donald in office. Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Wisconsin voters bought into his Big Lie about bringing back jobs. And, Florida (a former Swing state) was turned "Red" because they didn't allow their 750 K ex-convict Felons to vote. Later, when that was overturned, they forced them to pay victim restitution, which can be as high as One Million Dollars. And, YES-most street-level Criminals, being Poor, and/or Minority-ARE Democrats. Murderers and Rapists are still denied voting rights in that state...even after they have done their time and finished Parole.
Biden was Elected because Arizona and Georgia flipped Blue. He Blew the COVID Pandemic for Sure, but Arizona voters were also peeved at his Dissing of John McCain...even after he Died.
I wouldn't count on their voting Democrat in 2024.
Democrats can't even nominate someone else other than Biden for 24.
GOP can't even nominate someone else other than Trump for 24.
And nobody even cares for third party.
So, that's the state of American politics today. Your only option is to choose between two incapable dinosaurs for president.
If Taylor ran for president *I'd* vote for her. I don't like her music and I detest her fan base, and I think she just might be the third least qualified person in the country to be president. But considering the two options we gots...
>I think she just might be the third least qualified person in the country to be president.
Really? Out of all America Taylor Swift is the 3rd least qualified? Have you met the general public?
Even a very popular candidate like Bernie Sanders was unable to win Democratic nomination and he tried twice.
American politics is controlled by a few rich people who fund the political campaign of their own select candidates.
You're delusional, the US is outperforming its peers by a larger margin than ever and most economics stats are strong. Wallstreet predicted 2% national growth and got 3.3% last quarter. Half of the problem is just the idiots who keep saying the economy is bad when it's clearly not.
I hate her music, but I actually think she could make a passable president. As a person she seems pretty caring and kind, and I think she’s got the awareness to surround herself with smart advisors and whatnot
I would pick Biden over Taylor Swift in a heartbeat.
This is the idea of someone that knows very little about what is happening in our country or around the world.
We don’t need another inexperienced celebrity in the White House.
If you are actually paying attention you would see how masterful Biden is handling his job as President.
You’re comin at me with some weird aggro energy there over a small joke in a silly subreddit.
If you were actually paying attention, you would see that I also didn’t say Taylor swift would be the best option for president. Just not the worst. And also you might notice Taylor swift isn’t an option for president.
Nothing would damage her popularity more.
This is the basic reason the most beloved celebrities tend not to get into politics. The second you put R or D by your name, *automatically*, half the country hates you. And, in short order, even a substantial percentage of your own party will hate you.
This was fine with Trump. Being hated & hateable was always part of his brand ("You're fired!").
But Swift (and some other celebrities, like The Rock) have built a career on having a sky-high adoration rating. There's no reason to trade fame for infamy.
Except the right already has some stupid conspiracy against her anyways now. She has already made her political views clear, so leaning into that isn’t going to cost her fame anymore.
>Except the right already has some stupid conspiracy against her anyways now
I think this is a class example of the news cycle amplifying a small but vocal minority.
>She has already made her political views clear, so leaning into that isn’t going to cost her fame anymore.
\*shrugs\* I mean, look, I think you're just wrong here.
Really. Because she’s been publicly endorsing democrats for the past 5 years. *The public already knows what side she’s on*, and nothing bad has happened to her career. It’s only made her bigger.
>Has she not been publicly endorsing democrats for the past 5 years now?
We're not talking about endorsements or anodyne get out the vote campaigns.
We're talking about running for office.
This is like me saying "it would be bad for Taylor's health to get blackout drunk" and you saying "well, she had a glass of wine with dinner last night and she's fine!"
Nit like the president matters, her signature is as good as any, and she is better to look at than Bidsn or Trump.
Now, can we focus on the structure of Congress and the courts, ya jniw, the peice who actually matter.
President matters as they do supreme court judges. Look at what happened right after RBG died. Now some states are like Gilead from handmaids tale.
Looking at you texas and florida
Adding a new member is rare and hardly anything to brag about. As you have no control over what that person does and can not remove them, and then they have real power.
Did the homework by way of GPT-4. It’s not such a crazy idea.

While Taylor Swift is primarily known as a singer-songwriter rather than a politician, hypothetically speaking, if she were to become President of the United States, there could be several perceived advantages based on her public persona, career achievements, and advocacy work:
1. **Youth Appeal and Engagement**: As a popular figure among younger demographics, Taylor Swift could potentially inspire increased political engagement and voter turnout among younger citizens, who often participate at lower rates than older age groups.
2. **Advocacy for Women's Rights and Equality**: Known for her advocacy for women's rights and equality, her presidency might emphasize and potentially advance these issues on a national scale.
3. **Strong Communication Skills**: As a successful songwriter and public figure, she has demonstrated an ability to connect with a wide audience, a valuable skill for any leader seeking to unify the country and promote their policies.
4. **Experience Handling Public Scrutiny**: Having lived much of her life in the spotlight and navigated various public challenges, she might bring resilience and experience in handling pressure and scrutiny to the presidency.
5. **Philanthropy and Social Awareness**: Swift has a history of philanthropic efforts and raising awareness for social causes. This could translate into a presidency focused on social welfare and supporting underrepresented communities.
6. **Global Influence**: As an internationally recognized celebrity, she might use her global platform to strengthen diplomatic relationships and promote America's image abroad.
It's important to note that while these aspects highlight potential advantages based on her public persona and achievements, being President requires a deep understanding of policy, law, and governance, areas outside of her known expertise. Professional politicians typically spend years, if not decades, understanding these complex domains before assuming a role like the presidency.
Somehow I think that would actually be worse. She's a hyper-capitalist with a sycophantic fan base but make it "girlboss". I confess that I like her music though, lol.
