I’ve just thrown back a football over my neighbours fence for her grandkids and i think it’s just hit me at 35. I know longer get my ball back and now I’m the one throwing it back.

For some reason, people like adding R into words eg "carn't" instead of "can't". And that's not even based on pronunciation of your area as I know people who pronounce is "cannnt" rather than "cahhnt" but still spell it "carn't"! Wtf.

Yeah trampolines are dangerous! I went to an exercise class at a trampoline park a few years ago, advertised as low-impact on the joints, threw my back out and ended up needing physio and acupuncture for 9 months after. Still bothers me on occasion now.

You can prevent it by drinking water before going to bed, and then drinking water when you first wake up, then eating something and taking ibuprofen. Ibuprofen was actually invented as a hangover cure, and it works like magic. Also milk thistle - if you can get it.

Mate I'm getting on a bit now, believe me when I say I've tried every combination of cures and remedies when it comes to hangovers. The best I've found for me is lucozade full sugar, salt and vinegar crisps and berocca. Or, cutting down on the consumption but that's not as much fun.

I used to go clubbing on a week night and then go to work the next day. That thought just horrifies me. Not only do I have no desire to go clubbing at all these days and would struggle to stay awake until the time we normally arrived at the club, I'd also need to write off the next two or three days. Friday night? Only if the next Monday was also a bank holiday. I'd still be looking worse for wear on the Tuesday.

18 year olds calling you old, I’m 28, I’m not old but I feel old when I get called out like that! Remembering a film that feels recent but it came out like 5 or 6 years ago. Stuff to do with grades, I’m still used to the A, B, C grades and so when someone younger says they got this number and I go huh?? Like what does that number mean? XD When someone tells me this programe or book I used to watch/read is “this” old and I’m like noo. When the BBC announced the then new actor playing Doctor Who (Matt Smith) and he was younger than I was. I thought things were getting back to normal with Peter Calpaldi but then they started going the wrong way again. David Tennant is a year older than I am so there was a brief respite when he came back for three specials at least. Parents of small children calling me "the lady" (eg "be careful Timmy, you almost ran into the lady"). Waking up with weird injuries, when all I did for the last nine hours was sleep. Bands I liked as a teenager going on 20th anniversary tours. Which I then go to and everyone else in the crowd is my age, but also brought their kids with them. Seeing young people in smart work clothes in town centres on weekday lunchtimes and wondering if it's work experience week, before realising these people are in fact in their 20s. Having a nephew at sixth form and remembering being in my second year of uni when he was born.

In 2022 I was back in London and I had a ticket to go and see a band I really like - PUP. I got to Camden quite early and I was planning to head up to Primrose Hill to drink a beer enjoying the views. I walked past the venue and I saw some teenage kids sat outside. I got this aching nostalgia for when I used to do that - show up early to a venue and hang out the front, making friends with other kids and getting hyped for the show. And then it hit me - I can't do that now. I'm too old. If I went and hung out with those kids it would be so, so weird. Hell, someone walking past seeing a man my age hanging out with a bunch of kids might be concerned enough to call the police. I'm not saying I wanted to go and hang out with the kids. I just thought - there's this whole side of going to see bands, this whole social aspect, that's been closed off to me now. Not because I did anything wrong or because I changed my personality in any way. I just got old.

He was genuinely into the music, wore similar clothes and was nice to chat to and friendly with me and my mates (and lots of the other regulars). As I reached my 40s my hangovers started to become unbearable, sometimes lasting 3 days and being terrible for my physical health but even worse for my mental health. I realised I would be arranging to meet friends but dreading the hangover more than I looked forward to the night out. Forced me to basically not get drunk any more. I have a joint condition that mimics arthritis. My physio gave me two sticks to use when my hips, knees, ankles or feet are painful. I've resisted ever since. Until yesterday when I realised they may actually help the pain in both feet and right knee. I am 47 using two sticks for my pain. I felt very old. They worked wonders though and my pain was minimal so well worth it.

When I stopped caring about keeping up my image and started just being myself. No life trigger really just woke up one day and thought f this I am who I am. Happened in my mid 30's too. Honestly I find it more fun to be old cause you have more mental freedom.

My hair is starting to thin out and turn grey, my joints ache and give me trouble, I'm a miserable bastard, and to top everything off I've also had nearly all of my teeth removed.
