Should I buy this LC Smith Fulton 12GA?

I sent a photo of this to my buddy and he looked it up and apparently they go for thousands of dollars in some instances. Is anyone on here knowledgeable enough to tell me if this is worth purchasing for $500? It's a "field grade 12 ga model" LC Smith and only says LC Smith on both sides of the gun. No other markings aside from a serial number and "patented May 28 1901". Barrel isn't stamped in any way at all, and when you activate the mechanism to open barrels the piece that holds it in place can be removed entirely. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Mine is a '50 era LC Smith. You must shoot low base shells. I'm shooting RST low base 12 ga 2 1/2" Bismuth shells. Almost all my friends shoot 3 1/2 magnum. But I think if you can't hit the duck, it doesn't matter what you shoot. They coudn't do any better with a 10 gage maximum load. I like the elsie. The balance, it swings easy, and those 30 barrels do make it easier to lead.

Do it

Solid gun. True sidelock. Just check for cracks in the wood by the tang and around the locks. Looks like a good buy for $500

Copy that. I don't remember seeing any cracks on it anywhere when I was inspecting it yesterday, but I will be extra vigilant today when I go back to the shop. Thank you for your help!

Good luck with it if you score it. There’s some good disassembly and review videos on YT if you peruse for them.

LC Smith field guns are some of the most reliable 12GA SxS guns I’ve researched. Go for it.

I've seen a bunch of posts all saying they're amazing online, was hoping someone knew more about this one in particular. I kinda feel like I found a diamond in the rough as it's being sold thru consignment and was part of someone's collection. The gun store it's at has over 25 of this person's collection, so they are marked to sell. Based on the serial number it's from the year 1911, and could potentially be quite valuable. Thanks for your help!

Yeah dude this thing is nice. Even if it’s not worth a ton of money, it will be a good shooter

Awesome, I'm going to make the jump and grab it then. I have to go back to finish paying for my other 2 firearms. Guess I'll finally have a SxS now!

I'm only here to talk you into it.

Do you have $500? Then I say go for it

Yes, luckily I do. I picked up a Mossberg 500 combo set with 2 barrels and 2 grips/stocks and a Ruger 10/22 with full manlicher wood stock and a scope already attached for $750, saw that shotgun for sale too and my friend loves sxs's so sent him a pic. He looked into it and said it could be worth a fair amount of money.

I don't know anything about this model, but that's so sexy. But it! If they have two, get both!
