What happened to Scotty and Kristine halfway through season 3?

I’m rewatching all the episodes and realized they just disappeared as soon as grant got introduced. What happened? Anyone know? Was it a bad break?

She said on the mythfits podcast with Kari and Tory that she left 75%!because of the “puppet master” which apparently is a douchey producer named Peter something. And now she’s super happy being a Dental hygienist

I heard somewhere that she quit because of one of the producers. It was the one that was eventually fired and was responsible for the arc of the covenant shock to Adam that royally pissed him off.

Yes it was the puppet master legally known as Peter Rees

Scotty became a dentist after she left the Mythbusters.

Wtf. She is crazy smart and talented in so many fields. Do you know why she left? Was it just to pursue dentistry?

She got fired after hooking up the bhagdad battery and shocking the hell out of Jaime

Hooking it up to a cattle prod I mean

I'm watching Season 4 Episode 14 the Quicksand one, and from this episode alone (6:33), I can tell you Kristine didn't make it through the internship because she didn't have enough experience with building. She made a mistake and jokingly tells Jamie she'll give him $1.50 later, but he points out that although this time it was an inexpensive item, he's got really expensive machinery all over. They probably just realized they let someone through who was too inexperienced for everyone's safety.

I went and watched. Wow dude! What a super keen eye

Oooh! And Season 14 Episode 15 - Explosive Jawbreaker probably didn't help. She got burned on the job and looked like she was rather irritated that the camera man chased her into the bathroom (as I would have been too). Seems like it may have been an amicable split after this episode.

I had such a silly TV crush on Scotty. I would have so clogged with her!

Scotty doesn't know...

Don't tell Scotty

They didn't disappear when Grant got introduced. Grant came in when Scottie left for personal reasons. Christine leaving was more show-related.

Apparently Scottie was fired…

This is a myth (ironic) that’s been circulating for years.
The Myth: Scottie was fired by Jamie over the Baghdad Battery incident (where they “pranked” Adam by hooking up a car battery to their “ark of the covenant”). Because that “prank” could have seriously injured or even killed Adam as the electricity passed close by his heart, and she was team lead.
The truth: while Scottie was team lead for that episode, the decision to do the car battery prank came from a producer (who actually left the show shortly after) over the protests of the crew, including Scottie. As u/Ragnarsworld’s clip shows, her real reason for leaving (according to Adam) was simply she had decided that being on camera was not for her, she just didn’t like the experience (said producer also likely didn’t help as in a few older interviews she mentioned “an annoying producer”).

To add to this, if she had left the show because of being blamed for what happened in that episode, they wouldn't have brought her back for some guest builds afterwards. It was actually a cattle prod/electric fence device (called the red snapper on the show because it was in a red casing) that was being used as the prank and not a car battery. Adam has a very short fuse on the show, so I'm not surprised about the producer being shown the door or the build team being reluctant to do the prank at all.
Ragnarsworld@reddit
Nope. Adam talked about it. About 1 minute in.
