Do you think the younger generation (ages say 18-early 30s) go out drinking alot less than the older generation did years ago?

We were discussing this the other week in the pub.
My dad and his mates were saying in the 80s, it wasn't uncommon, if not the norm, for them and all their mates to be going out minimum 3/4 times a week drinking. He said Friday/Saturday/Sunday was standard, and most people would usually chuck a Thursday in there aswell .
I love a drink, and so do all my mates, but an average week for us is 1 trip to the social club, sometimes 2, but never really more than that.
Seems like back then people just drank alot more and went out alot more.
