I found my old MySpace log-in and deleted everything. Had a Facebook for a hot second after that but deleted all that too back in like 2012. Haven’t had a social media profile since then. I’m on my second Reddit profile because I like to delete everything and start over every once and a while. (Swear if anyone steals josuelaker3 before I get there, I’m not gonna be happy.

What I mean by "you just didn't take photos" was you don't take photos of your friends drunk or doing stupid things. Its not a universal rule but typically most law enforcement/first responders (less in the fire/EMS groups) have to be careful about public scrutiny and photos that lead to blackmail or damage to your public image when you are planning on furthering your career. A few drunken photos online of your friends in your twenties are not going to hurt your career if you are a beat cop but if you go into supervision, leadership etc those all come back to bite you with smear campaigns, the media and "cop watch" groups. So typically, most law enforcement/ legal (judges, prosecutors, arbitrators) will scrub their social media profiles and its just a unwritten rule that if there is alcohol out there are no cameras allowed.

Well we were still adjusting to instant pictures. Growing up, we just took photos and a few months later once we got the film developed we got them back and finally saw what happened. It wasn’t like we could take a ton of selfies and practice our poses, lol!!

Yes! And not having that immediate feedback of how you looked had to have been beneficial compared to what these kids are putting themselves through today.. You'd get a picture back looking horrible weeks later and 🤷 . Nothing to be self conscious about now, that awful makeup and hair day was four whole weeks ago.

i culled all my photos pre2010. will likely be doing it again. i was the one in the group with the point and shoot or disposable and you can tell which were scans or cd rips of the disposable. photos were always framed poorly, unflattering, or blown out from the flash lol.

Our school got access to FB during the slow college rollouts, and while the terrible old photos are great I really miss the stupid inside joke groups people used to make. A few examples, we had a dorm on campus that had sinks in the rooms and someone made an "I peed in those sinks" group, or a "Survivors of falling into the bushes next to the lab drunk" group, and so on. Every day you'd find these weird niche groups that would cluster hundreds of people.
