How do we feel about water filters such as Grayl?

Bought one for camping, it seems to work well on stream water, I don't have a lab or other way to verify it's claims, but they do say they are independent tested and verified.
I've filtered dirty looking steam water and it ended up tasting as pure as bottled. Just want to know before I continue using it.

I had one of these and returned it. I was camping for a week in the mountains and even using clear water from lakes/streams, the minerals plugged up the filter and made it unusable after filtering only 10 to 15 gallons maybe. There is no way to backflush the filter, and replacement filters are expensive for something that is rendered useless so quickly.
Get a Sawyer instead.

Backflushing w my Grayl press is not necessary. I carry a coffee sieve w coffee filters. I use a dedicated gray water 4 liter bag to collect the dirty water. Then pour the dirty water from the gray bag thru the coffee sieve w a coffee filter. This is extremely effective at prefiltering everything larger than a micron. Get good coffee filters. I could use my Army shmogue but it's not as effective as the coffee filters. This is my high mobility approach to fast hydration. I hike w minimal time spent in my Army bivy (MSS). I value maximizing mobility & minimizing camp set-up. I keep a Sawyer squeeze filter for backup. There is no right set-up. Depends on the person's objectives & the mission. Tailor your filtration set-up according to how you plan to travel. Fast travel dictates a certain approach (TTP). Slower traveling suggests different approaches. God bless (Yol Bolsun).

Grayl has higher PPM after filtering than before. I tested my tap water before and after. Before was 277 after 305.

The grayl filter doesn't work. Same ppm before and after filtering. Can provide a video of needed
