What's your best example of "people used to age quicker in the olden days"?

Seems whenever you see old documentary footage or the like, people used to age much quicker in the UK. Fashion didn't help, but often people looked physically older - wasn't unusual to see people in their 20s looking easily 40+. Not just in popular culture either, but my mum and my aunt and uncle on my dad's side didn't seem to age at all in photos from about 25 to 50 - they already looked nearly 50. Wife mentioned "a lovely old song that was on the radio in work today" last night and it was Everlasting Love by Love Affair. Popped it on for her and also did a look on Wikipedia as I knew the song but had never heard of the group. Turns out the band didn't play in the famous version, the lead singer was backed by an orchestra (Keith Mansfield's orchestra, famous for writing the Grandstand theme tune, pop trivia fans). But said lead singer, Steve Ellis, sounds about 40-50 years old. I asked around mates, all guessed about the same. But he was *sixteen* when he recorded it. Again, I know technology at the time doesn't help, but bloody hell! Just wondering if it's just me or if other people have noticed this?
