I believe these 3 songs have the best argument for “greatest rap song of all time” in no particular order: 1) Wu-tang - Triumph 2) 2pac - Can’t C Me 3) Biggie - Juicy They all bring something a little different, but if I were tasks with having to show an alien what the best rap song is, it would be one of these 3.

Just saw them live in Tampa over the summer with Nas on the New York State of Mind tour. Method Man wasn't on the tour but came out as a surprise on that stop. Shit was epic. One of the greatest experiences of my life.

Yes! The Tampa joint was in the pool section of the Hard Rock casino. We had already bought tickets but once we got there, we decided to spring the additional buck fifty for the VIP pool area right in front of the stage. Best financial decision I've ever made. Standing in the shallows with my shoes off watching Wu-Tang and Nas. It was a raptism.

Got to see Wu-Tang Clan as the special guest performer in Syracuse, New York at Lollapalooza '96. (Out of the six main touring bands that year, four of the vocalists are deceased now: Joey Ramone, Chris Cornell, Mark Lanegan of Screaming Trees, and Pat Briggs of Psychotica. Worst mortality record for any Lollapalooze year's bands, I think.)

I remember watching TV at my grandparents (on cable I was able to “borrow” for them) and I caught their debut on Yo MTV Raps. It was so foreign to me. I wish I could put that feeling in a bottle. They might well have been Martians for all my little young eyes knew, but I loved them. Sister Mary Margaret was not impressed with my rendition during music class that year.

I was a metal kid in jr high. I wore band shirts like Korn, Manson, NIN, and so on. When you’re in 8th grade, things can be pretty tribal. When I first heard Wu-tang my immediate thought was along the lines of “this is the heavy metal of rap.” I loved it, even though I didn’t like much rap at the time. I bought a Wu-tang shirt the next weekend. It was the only acceptable rap group the metal heads were ok with you liking. It was also something that rap kids totally were cool with you repping. Wu-tang built bridges and helped me expand my musical tastes.
