Hugo Intense EDP had my attention across all the fragrances i tested out. I initially wanted CK but as soon as i sniffed Hugo Intense, I knew that moment that i just had to get it. But i don't think it is for everyone. It has a fruity & leather smell. Its a bit harsh at first but has a very pleasant and smooth smell afterwards. Get the 125ml instead of the 75 ml bottle. It's more worth it imo.

You can order perfume samples over the Internet - this is what I do. I love a good fragrance and am currently looking for my next one, this is a good way to sample lots of different scents without paying £50+, and you can get a much wider variety than going into boots and using the samples outside the shelves.

Love Chanel Bleu and Platinum Egoiste, two very different fragrances for different occasions. I like Armani Code and Lacoste Pour Homme too. I second the opinion of Sauvage being over saturated. It's hard to say the nicest smelling as it's down to personal taste. However, I mainly go for: Chanel Allure Homme Sport Dior Sauvage Paco Rabanne Phantom Lacoste Matchpoint Go to a shop and try some out before committing, but just be wary that how it smells on the little strip of paper is not how it will smell on you.

I mean, agreed to an extent. Too much aftershave/cologne is overpowering and can be unpleasant. Dogs hate it btw. Seen dogs get nosebleeds from owners who wear too much. Guy came to my house for 5 mins and I could still smell his cologne 2 days later. But many are attracted to and enjoy it (including myself) or there wouldn’t be such a huge industry making mega bucks from it. It just needs to be used sparingly.

Idk if the message hasn’t gotten to the male community yet BUT PLEASE DON’T BUY CHEAP KNOCK OFF PERFUMES!!!! Like knock off make up, they are often produced in China or elsewhere without much health regulations. The biggest risk is chemicals and heavy metals in much higher concentrations. Put that on your skin and it absorbs. Unwise at best, dangerous at worst. Same with candles because you’re breathing whatever they’re putting into the air. Plenty of reputable smaller name brands produce fantastic perfumes, many of which either smell similar to the big expensive brands or have original scents that are nice. Slightly odd insight perhaps but Zara recently upped their perfume game. Because they’re a European retailer they have to adhere to health regulations and many of the scents they’ve released over the last couple years are actually oddly 1:1 to popular big brand hits. Not sure if the case for men, but I suggest investigating.

My favourite fragrances are Stronger with You by Emporio Armani. It’s a very sweet vanilla note with a crisp finish. My other choice is Bharara King which is a dupe of Erba Pura or alternatively, Lattafa Ana abiyedh. It contains orange, vanilla, musk, oud, bergamot and is a very sweet smelling fragrance.

But it is WAY cheaper Then everyone here is wrong, although there are some great ones. The best fragrance is Calvin Klein Euphoria for Men. I was known as the "Guy who smells nice" throughout uni, and while that came from a variety of fragrances, there was none which women loved more than Euphoria. And while it is(/was) usually £50+ for 100ml, I got a 100ml spray and 100ml aftershave for £40 off eBay

Prada L'homme is very versatile. Also Channel allure sports is super nice if you're into lemon, fresh fragrances. For me game changer was ordering small samples from internet and actually trying perfumes for a day or two. You can get 5-7 samples for 20£. In perfume shop all smells get confused for me and after smelling few I can't smell anything anymore. It's so much better to try and wear perfume for a day or two before deciding to invest more money into it

When considering a fragrance there are a few things to consider. The immediate fragrance perhaps isn't the best way to judge. It should be how it will develop over time, which is where your imagination and expertise comes into play. Cheap perfumes lose their fragrance, ie. the stillage is very low. Top brands retain their fragrance over a considerable length of time. Sometimes, you pull a jumper out of the wardrobe weeks after and you can still smell the perfume you used and it will last you a few more days. In this regard Diptyque and Amouage are the top contenders. I have both and the tiniest spray will stay on my clothes for many days. Expensive but definitely value for money. Choose a perfume from a brand that is known for it; rather than a brand that is known for say making T-shirts.

A lot of those high-price, high-marketing ones end up using the cheapest of ingredients and alcohols that gives very astringent smells when in confined spaces like the tube. I'd recommend looking for smaller perfumeries and sampling their stuff. If you're more into Natural Scents (plants and fruits and petrichor) I'd recommend a Cumbrian company called "Bath House".

There are websites which sell sample sizes. I prefer to do it this way. Maybe it'll cost £10 to have 4/5 samples of your choice delivered. But then you get to properly try each one out for a few days. All the stores just have a big tester spray bottle now, so all you can take away with you is cardboard samples and they never smell right. I just find it overwhelming in the stores, I get scent blind pretty quick!

Also, the "headnotes" are the first thing you smell when you spray it. The "heartnotes" are the scent after the spray has dried and what you will actually be smelling like. When testing, you need to spray it in and then wait a good minute or two before having a good sniff. Sometimes the head and heart notes can be radically different. Depends on your budget - go to a boutique that sells lots of brands, like Les Senteurs and speak to them, they can figure out what works on you based on how much you’d like to spend (perfumes sit differently on different people) you can find some intensely interesting fragrances and be complimented a lot (trust me). Otherwise mainstream I tend to think Issey Miyake L’eau D’Issey has lasted so long for a reason - also Comme Des Garçons has some interesting ones. At the moment there are some great fragrances from Marc Antoine Barrois. Also, (depends on interest) if there is a fragrance you like, you can see what the perfumer has done with other brands.

Yves Saint Laurent Y EDP is my favourite. Bleu de Chanel also great though a lot more expensive, but I think Y is more interesting. I pay around £75 for 100ml of Y when it's on sale.

I know it's old school but I love wearing CK Obsession. It just smells so good to me. You've got to be careful though, incredibly easy to over apply it, and then you end up filling the room with the smell.

Whatever you go for, get a tester and wear it. If you still like it 6 hours later then buy it. If you suddenly smell like burnt rubber (looking at you Creed) then don’t bother. Fragrances smell different on different skin, try loads, pick the one that works for you.

It’s hard to say what the nicest one is as that’s totally dependent on someone’s preferences, my favourites that I love L’eau Dissey and Jean Laul Geutier but that might smell too feminine for some men. Personally I view aftershave the same as good quality clothing or jewellery, something you’ll wear often so you’ll get good value out of it.

Been using fragrance from NEXT (clothing store) for many years, was only a few before but now a much wider selection, price is very reasonable and you get different size bottles, good gift options too, I'd recommend trying them first, unlike popular stores where you have to ask them for a sample smell, Next ones are just there on shelves for you to try, Iv had positive feedback over the years of the smell, iv tried few of them and all been good.

I’m a big fan of of the more expensive fragrances: Tom Ford, Creed, Penhaligons, Byredo, Le Labo. But in your given price range I would say: YSL - La Nuit de L'Homme or Paco Rabanne - Phantom However, I always suggest going to a perfumery such as [Bloom](https://bloomperfume.co.uk) because you can get some wonderful fragrances for really good prices.

A few people have already said L'Eau d'Issey, which is indeed very nice. If you want something a bit different that fewer people wear, Claus Porto Musgo Real. The classic scent is quite clean and citrussy, but the one I really like is the Spiced Citrus which has a bit of the spice of something like Old Spice, but is softer, citrussy, and just lovely. Also they make the best shaving cream I have ever used, with the same scents. £20 a tube but well worth it.

I have several that I choose between depending on the occasion/my mood/time of year. Currently my main three are Uomo by Ermenegildo Zegna (which was a gift and is now unfortunately discontinued), Montblanc Legend Spirit, and a cheap one I think I got off Amazon, but whose name I can't recall! I tend to stay away from very heavy musky and earthy smells, and tend more towards lighter/more androgynous ones (think cedar, citrus and woody notes) without anything too floral. I also never apply them too heavily, which helps them last longer. That's just what I prefer though, and I've received compliments on all of them! I recommend going and having a sniff at some of them, if only to work out what kinds of notes and fragrances you enjoy!

Currently on Sauvage EDP, I know everyone wears it, but it’s for a reason. Previously I was Davidoff Cool Water as my go-to At work I wear a cheapo one from Next called L’Homme (green square bottle) and people comment on it ALL THE TIME saying how much they like it. It’s about £12 for the big bottle and it’s a winner

Grey Vetiver by Tom Ford. Most of their scents are excellent though - just give them a try somewhere. Good scent costs money these days and I think it's worth paying little more for something actually decent. [Fragrantica.com](https://Fragrantica.com) is great for recommending similar scents to ones you already know you like, as well as suggesting where you can find deals for each of them.

I'm currently wearing Prada - Luna Rossa Carbon and it's lovely. Woody and floral. Asked my ex to smell me when I took my daughter home after buying it and I genuinely think if my daughter hadn't been standing there she would have dragged me upstairs. I really, really want a bottle of "To my Father" but it's quite expensive and not available on the high St (that I can find) Tom Ford - Ombre Leather is meant to be nice. Valentino Born in Roma is very nice too, quite floral with a little lavender, would be a great spring fragrance.

L’eau D’issey is an amazing smell. Calvin Klein Eternity (the og version) also amazing. And I’m going to slip an oldie..it was very popular decades ago Drakkar Noir…it was popular because it had a great scent. I’m unaware of the smell of Sauvage but Eau Savage was another old favourite of mine. I say this from a woman’s perspective.

I used to love Jako by Lagerfeld it's been discontinued ages now so I use the last bit I have sparingly, but Fahrenheit is my all time fave, the essence vault do a very good copy so i just buy that.
